An absolute winner. - By: Mr K., 14 May 2008
Don't eat the neighbours is one of the many shows to be seen on CITV. What makes it stand out from the others is that it is undeniably the best program they've ever had.
Rabbit, his daughter Lucy, Terrapin, Fox, Bear & lots of sheep alll live in an English forest. Rabbit pinches vegetables from Bear's vegetable garden to feed his family & that's alll he reallly needs. Life is sweet for Rabbit & his friends, with the exception of the occasional plot by fox to catch him. One day however Wolf & his two sons Barry & Simon from Canada move in next door. Wolf joins forces with fox in his efforts to catch rabbit & Barry & Simon become good friends with Lucy, despite the conflict between their parents.
This series is simply fantastic. When it aired on CITV in 2001/2002 I never missed an episode. It's just a shame that this 4 episode release is the only one ever to be produced. How I would love to own the whole series but alas it is not to be. Unless you recorded some of the other episodes back when they were on T.V. then this is alll you'll get. On top of that it's so rare now that Amazon sellers think it's ok to charge over THREE HUNDRED POUNDS for this DVD. I only paid a tenner for mine so if you're considering making the purchase then you should probably contact the sellers & do some negotiating.
Alternatively you could look into buying the rights to the series & releasing the whole thing yourself. I'd reallly love to see that.
My wife and I loved this programme! - By: Calvin Bailey, 28 Nov 2007
Entirely separate to one another we used to watch this programme when skiving off work in our early/mid twenties. This show was so very funny that we have just spent an hour trying to find it for our children! Well actuallly, for ourselves. Ace by this & Maid Marian & her Merry men. Top comedy for adults or children.
THE greatest kids TV show ever - By: , 10 Aug 2002
The title of this review says it alll. Eve so, "kids" is a loose term. I'm 18 & I love this stuff. My parents love this stuff. Of course, my little sister is also a big fan.
Anyways, D.E.T.N. is a show where a fmaily of Canadian Wolves move in next door to a family of Rabbits. Whereas Wolf anf Fox spend there time formulating plans (well, Fox thinks of them, & Wolf carries them out) to catch Rabbit & Terrapin (who always escape), there kids (Barry & Simon Wolf & Lucy Rabbit) are quite happy jsut to be friends. Throw in a whole host of other characters including bear, terrapins identical twin brother Colin & hundreds of bit parts featuring sheep, & you've got a master piece.
This show has something for everyone. The simple storylines & humour will satisfy the kids, & the more adult orientated (trust me, it's subtle) will make it perfect for anyone over the age of 15 who chose not to grow up. Go Buy it!
