content 3 stars - film quality -1 - By: jack firestick, 12 Apr 2008
another "video nasty" of the 80s,but vipco you say "digitallly remastered?"
no way, what i got was a grainy & washed out film with sometimes distorted
sound ! this dvd is worth pence , come on anchor bay or blue under ground
lets remaster this properly as the film is quite good. two couples fly to a quiet island for a well-earned break, but "kay" knows the horror that is waiting for them & sure enough they are killed off by this "monster"
once the killings start & the storm comes ,theres a good atmoshere but its
ruined by rubbish so-callled "remastering. have a look but dont pay a lot.
Shocking Picture Quality - By: Steven Pawinski, 12 Dec 2007
I'd fully agree with the last reviewer, this is reallly quite possibly the worst transfer ever committed to DVD. The grain is just so bad, its nigh unwatchable (even worse than Vipco's release of The Burning). Only worth buying for pence reallly, & even then I'd begrudge paying.
I always had respect for Vipco for bringing rare & notorious films to the UK DVD market, but this one reallly takes the p*ss. How anyone could release a disc in this state is beyond me.
The film itself is just about worth buying, if only for its video nasty status. Unfortunately, the gore is way too minimal - with a decent pitchforking scene being its only saviour.
Poor - By: Mark Wayman, 12 Jul 2004
First of alll the picture on this film is terrible. It is full of grain at certain points, average at best. For about a minute mid-way through the film it appears to be hailstoning, but it's just grain on the screen!
This film suffers from a reallly bad ending, which comes out of nowhere. That is a pity as there are some inspired gore scenes & the film in general is ok.
Put it this way, with a different ending & none of the grain I would have given this at least three stars.
