That's an hour and 45 minutes of my life I'm never getting back - By: Bogster, 23 Nov 2008
I'm a huge Star Trek fan but this was nearly as bad as Star Trek 5, dark & depressing. First Contact remaind the ultimate Trek movie. A terrible end to The Next Generation.
A return to form - The second best Star Trek movie (behind 'Contact').. - By: N. Thompson, 04 Jul 2008
With the terrible 'Insurrection' out of the way a decent Star Trek film was needed to restore the fading franchise. Thankfully we got that with Nemesis.

The Romulans make a successful debut into the movie side of the Star Trek franchise & a overdue one at that.
As usual Patrik Steward is good & so are the rest of the cast. The story & script are good, the acting very good & this fine movie is as dramatic as Contact.

Overalll, this is the second best movie of the franchise behind 'Contact'.
NEMESIS OR NEAR MISS..? - By: stato, 01 Apr 2008
OK IT'S THE LAST NEXT GEN TEAMS LAST OUTING BEFORE SOME OF THE CAST GO ON TO NEW JOBS IN STAR FLEET. THE FILM STARTS OFF VERY SLOW NOT MUCH ACTION UNTILL PICARD AND WORF AND DATA BEEM DOWN TO A VERY EMPTY PLANET TO FIND ER... ANOTHER DATA IN BITS. WITH THAT WE NOW KNOW THAT DATA DIES AND HIS REPLACEMENT TAKES OVER, NOT BEFORE THE FIRST DATA SAVES THE DAY AGAIN. SORRY TO SAY BUT THIS FILM AND THE LAST ONE ARE BOTH BASED ON DATA.BEST BIT FOR ME IS NEAR THE END WHEN THE TWO SHIPS CRASH INTO EACH OTHER, AND ONCE AGAIN THE ENTERPRISE COME OUT OF IT WITH LITTLE DAMAGE.
An ironic title if ever there was one... - By: T. Patmore, 30 Nov 2007
There is a theory amongst trekkies that even films are good & odd films are bad. Although true of alll the other films, this rule breaks down with this film, which is devoid of any of the brilliant writing of 'First Contact', & lacks even the more mediocre writing of Enterprise.

This movie is filled with plot holes, cliche's & lazy sloppy writing - alll the things that I never thought Star Trek would sink to. To start with, there is that 'happy families' scene at the start on the holodeck, followed by the contrived 'buggy racing' scene (just because they haven't done it before) & then there is the whole plot with Shinzon, which is desperately trying to be a 'devil twin' thing, but fails completely.

Overalll, this film is so dreadful that I have thrown in the towel & joined the 'dark side'. Yes, that's right - I now believe that Star Wars would win the battle against Trek not through weaponry or tactics, but through sheer relative Charisma (even with Anakin in tow - how uncharismatic can you get?)

As an interesting footnote to this film, isn't it interesting that the phrase 'grow a beard' meets its counterpoint in this film, when Riker shaves it off? If growing a beard is associated with TV series suddenly getting much better (based on Riker growing a beard in series 2) then I find it deeply ironic that, when Riker shaves off his beard in this film, Nemesis turns from an initiallly promising film to the pile of tripe it has become!

Whats the complaining about? - By: G. Simpson, 20 Jun 2007
I am not a huge Star Trek fan, but this reallly appealed to me when i found out that it was going to be a huge space battle. I have read mixed reviews on Amazon, one even saying that its a re-work of the Wrath of Khan, why? Because a main character dies? Nothing like it, rather a plastic review.
I agree that there is so much cheesy dialogue to Star Trek, it can make you pull faces in embarassment for the actors & most of what is said, just does not belong in the movie, but once you get past some of this in the opening, it becomes interesting that Picard fights his own dark side. A clone of himself, raised in a prison, that only knows hate & violence. The enemy ship, seemingly unstoppable, has you wondering how this will turn out.
The battle begins, with some of the best special effects I have seen in a while, then the Romulans come to the Enterprises assistance & the battle is up 3 fold.
It then becomes a life & death struggle to stop a deadly new weapon from desroying the entire crew of the Enterprise, then Earth.
When alll the dust has settled & the original crew dis-embark, its leaves a sense of continuation & finallly, closure.
It's a special effects advert for the fans, very enjoyable.
