The person who mentioned "Jumpers" word association springs to mind - Marks & Sparks.

An underrated hidden horror gem - By: Lando Malak, 12 Jul 2007
I first saw this in 1997, it was definitely on sky TV (which I used to have back then, but will never go near it again) but I can't remember exactly which channel but I think it was on Bravo. Before I saw this I had heard of it & knew that it was a horror/thriller film because it was released at a time when I was a teenager & used to rent a video, usuallly every Saturday & I am a big fan of horror movies but never got around to renting this on video so I didn't see until ten years later.
This is an underrated hidden gem & so I am guessing that a lot of people will not have seen this but if like me you do like horror or thriller type films then if you ever get a chance to see this then I would advise you to watch it.
I won't spoil the story so don't worry, but this alll starts off with a murderer (The Stepfather played by Terry O'Quinn) cleaning & changing his image in the house of which he has just murdered his family, the murder itself is left to your imagination & that is what is so brilliant about this film, his whole family murdering history is left to your imagination. Anyway like I said he is changing his image etc. before he moves on to another town to look for another poor family & that is about it.
It might alll sound very simplistic, but it isn't. This is filmed in such a clever & addictive way & it almost makes you (disturbingly) like the killer & that is because he comes across as a charming smiley friendly man, a sort of sterotypical perfect husband & father material type & in a way he is, but there is just one real problem, he is a control freak & if doesn't get his own way then his new family better be careful, the problem is that they don't know that they need to be because of his nice guy image.
Like I said, it alll starts off after he has murdered a family & then as they say, as cool as cucumber walking out of the house & moving to another town & it is at this point that it moves foward in time a little to the point where he has been living with a new wife & stepdaughter.
I am almost certain that this has never been shown on terrestrial TV or freeview & can't understand why because there is almost no violence in it at alll, it is a shame because a lot more people would finallly get to see it this way. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Underated - By: , 18 Jan 2006
After becoming hooked to LOST i wanted to pursue what other things Terry O Quinn has done & to my pleasure came across this little chestnut.
His acting is great just like the films soundtrack. I am going to university in September to pursure a career in Media Production(Film) & i would love to do a remake of this film if i ever make it big. Course O Quinn fans id try & get Terry in on it.
Anyways a great watch im gonna invest in the sequel pretty soon.
Jumpertastic.... - By: , 07 Jun 2004
This film should have been callled "The Most Hideously Garish Collection Of Jumpers Ever".
The acting is shockingly unconvincing, & every single character is wearing a ridiculously patterned knitted jumper in every scene.
So, good for a laugh, but has to be graded....F
The Stepfather - FANTASTIC - By: , 02 Dec 2003
I am studying AS Level film studies & i intended to do Sleeping With The Enemy, but i researched about the director & this is directed by the same guy! Fantastic movie, cleverly portrayed & distinctly in Joseph Ruben's famous style of darker American family life!
O'Quinn gives a top performance & it kept me very entertained & on the edge of my seat, although sorry to say it, a little predictable in places!!
All the same, worth a watch!
