All three films are fantastic. On the Town was the first Hollywood film to be filmed on location. The whole film is reallly a tribute to New York, starting with a view of the Manhattan skyline & including a wonderful scene on the top of the Empire State Building. It's full of energy & fun: "three smart gals & three slick fellas" meeting up & seeing the sights by day & night. It's full of brilliant songs (some by Leonard Bernstein) & the dance routines are the reason I now go to a dance class every week.

Anchors Aweigh is also about sailors on leave. It includes Gene Kelly's famous dance with Jerry (of Tom & Jerry) & the scene with hundreds of grand pianos. Gene Kelly taught Frank Sinatra to dance in six weeks for the film - with amazing results (especiallly the bed jumping scene!). My 3-year-old loves watching Gene Kelly play the piano with his bottom too.

High Society is another classic. It's got jazz (Louis Armstrong), glamour (Grace Kelly), smooth vocals (Bing Crosby & Frank Sinatra) & a great storyline (based on the Philadelphia Story). How could it fail?

For just over £10, you couldn't do better. Hours of warm fuzzy feelgood pleasure. This triple pack is what I'd have on my desert island....
