Best of the lot - By: , 26 May 2003
I'm a sci-fi fan. I've seen most sci-fi shows. And Stargate stands head & shoulders above the rest. From the beginning they've had more complex characters, more interesting plots, more twists then any other show that has 'Star' in the title. Now in its sixth season, its got past the plots & stories evey show has to do, & has never had the moral absolutes other show have insisted on, & is now in its prime. Daniel Jackson has gone, but returns in at least one of these episodes in a complex & emotionallly challlenging story. Nightwalkers takes on X-Files at its own game, & wins. Jonas proves to be more than just a Daniel replacement. teal'c develops humour. Jack is as intriguing, funny & fascinating character as always (brillianyl played by Ricahrd Dean Anderson...that man deserves a hell of a lot more recognition for his skills as an actor), and, in this season, Major Carter, played by Amanda Tapping, reallly comes into her own. She steps up to the plate to fill the void left by both Jackson & O'neill, & shows she's more than equal to the job.
A powerful end to an amazing season - By: , 20 Oct 2002
I usuallly feel slightly peeved at paying full price for a dvd when you get half the number of episodes, but not in this case. The 2 episodes are brilliant. The acting is superb, dealing with tragedy in one, & the aftermath of that tragedy in the second while trying to continue with the mission. These are characters fans have come to love, & their portrayal remains consistent throughout. The episodes are well paced, & they even find time to poke fun at themselves in the second one when Jack asks 'Is that it?'(if you see it, you'll understand why!). Added to this, there are some directors' viewpoint looks ahead at some of the first episodes of series 6, which tease & tantalise as well as offer an insight into the creation of the Stargate series.
Sad though I am at certain events on this disc, it only makes me look forward to the next one even more! Buy it - you'll love it!
