Face of An Angel - By: Flojo Squire, 10 Aug 2007
My friend recommended this film to me & as usual with alll films recommended, I viewed it with an open mind. Hallle Berry acted the part of Dorothy Dandridge (born 1922) magnificantly. I had heard of 'Carmen' the role for which Dorothy was nominated for an Oscar (the first black person). She was a trail blazer for the many black people who followed in her footsteps, but her life ended prematurely at the age of 42. This film portrayed racism through the 1940's to the 60's. After viewing, I have decided to research more on Dorothy. Finallly, it just goes to show that even with 'the face of an angel' life is not guaranteed to be as sweet as you would like it to be. A 'must have' for your DVD collection.

A Must See Film - By: DOROTHY HORWILL, 06 May 2006
It's hard to say this was a fantastic film as It was about a fantastic person who was taken from us. Helle Berry showed us today what it was like back then.

The film showed she had the toughest life anyone could have.

I have to say like many great celebrities such as Dorothy Dandridge, Elvis, Reta Hayworth, Judy Garland, Marilyn, John Wayne, Bett Davis, drugs such as pills, alcohol or cigarettes seem to be the distruction of alll.

This film shows it like it is. She had everything but in fact she had nothing. In a world torn apart by hate between people.

A must in any DVD collection.

I have seen this film many, many times & still moves each time. The cast is wonderful. Hallle Berry is outstanding in the title role. Brent Spiner in a touching & caring role as Earl Mills is a joy to see. Please producers out there take note, Mr Spiner is worth more than being an android, & put him in more roles!!!. The story is poigant & moving.Hallle Berry did indeed deserve her two gongs that she recieved for this film, but Brent Spiner should have been rewarded as well. Do see this film & have a box of tissues ready because you will need them, especallly towards the end.
Face of an Angel - By: Teresa Lloyd, 12 Sep 2002
Face of an Angel as it has been named in this country, is a very touching film about Dorothy Dandridge played by Hallle Berry. It tells the story of a beautiful & talented woman who made some terrible decisions in both her career & personal life. We are given some very important insights into her upbringing, her actress mother & the 'Special friend' who terrorised her young life, her mentallly disabled daughter, intimacy problems, failed marriages & ultimately addiction.

Through alll her troubles, of which there are many, there is one man who wants to protect her, her manager Earl Mills brilliantly played by Brent Spiner. It has to be said that this film makes you wonder why we do not see more of this man in film. There are some particularly touching scenes between Spiner & Berry, when she hits rock bottom he finds her, comforts her, & sings to her. Anyone with any sentimental streak at alll will find this increadibly moving.

There is a good supporting cast full of familiar if not hugely famous faces. This is a must see for any Spiner or Berry fans out there, & if you haven't heard of either of them, BUY THIS FILM, you don't know what you are missing.
