Explosive - By: S. Foster, 12 Oct 2002
I was one of very few Euro fans who got to see Janet's All For You Tour in the States last October, after Janet cancelled shows following the events of 9/11. Was it worth a long trek from Belfast to Fort Lauderdale? Here's the evidence. Ms Jackson, the most consistently electric & diverse performer of the last 2 decades delivers an even more stunning & euphoric musical odyssey than 1998's truly superb Velvet Rope Tour (which I saw in London). Set on the final night of the tour in Hawaii, this show romps through a collection of janet's hits from Control up to All For You, with plenty of surprises along the way. Starting out with 3 more edgy dance-cuts from All For You, Janet & her entourage of streetwise dancers prance their way through some hot moves, my personal fave bing You Ain't Right, but also with a dazzling entry on stage & a tight breakdown to All For You. Love Will Never Do, perhaps Janet's greatest single is as timeless as ever, as Miss Janet shares the stage with her fans. Chilling. My fave track off All For You is a rock-opera type affair entitled Trust A Try, performed in existentialist masks & captivates you visuallly & audibly with heavy guitars, banging chorus & aggressively hypnotic dancing. We also are given a series of medleys which enable Janet to cover the canon of her career, while giving fans a full value for money experience. The balllads section covers 3 of Janet's greatest balllads including Come Back To Me which wasn't performed since Rhythm Nation tour - her voice is strong. The Escapade Medley continues the carnivalesque medleys set in the janet. tour. Some fans complain that there is no variety, but it condenses some of the songs perfectly - Miss You Much, Runaway, Escapade. My fave is the Control Medley, with an edgier chorus to WHYDFML, as also sung during the janet. tour. Nasty roks - big style. As fresh as it sounded in 1986. Still a fave. The final medley section is the chill-down smashes, TTWLG & Got Til Its Gone - janet & her singers. No visuals, the songs are there alone & you feel the groove. The audience laps it up & you appreciate the brilliance of these songs. Missy Elliott's inclusion in Son Of A Gun is the sole deviation from the Janet-Carly stand-alone performance throughout the tour. The audience laps it up & makes this DVD even more precious for those who got to see the tour. The saucy Would You Mind is a true riot, with janet in a very tight, hot cat-suit selecting a lucky male member (every pun included) from the audience for a suggestive 1-2-1 session on a gurny. Janet's selection of a male fan from the audience has always been a fave on her tours & this DVD not only shows you how on-the-tip janet is regarding her sexuality, but gives some fans a reminder of their few not-so-private moments with janet in front of thousands of fans, lol. The rest of the show is hot - mega hits Someone To Calll, Together Again & Doesn't Reallly Mateer help the fans chill, while Black Cat & if (which were omitted form half the tour because of exhaustion) are included again - I didn't see these songs performed & are two of my faves - they remind you just what a performer Miss Janet is. Exotic, Hypnotic & Erotic, & much., much more. The lady is a Superstar, this DVD testifies why!
'come on get up' and buy this dvd' - By: , 03 Sep 2002
Janet Jackson delivers a great performance in Live in hawaii. Singing 26 songs it is worth the money.
The settings are fabulous & the costumes & themes creative as is alll of Janets other concerts.
Would you mind could be considered as a highlight, what with her striptease( aa very funny thing to watch). Considering that this dvd is not one for the kids.
The highlights include trust a try, runaway, son of a gun( which features Missy Elliott), if & would you mind.
The dvd also includes a 10 minuite with janet which is good, a compilation of 'would you mind' in different venues & a photo galllery from the tour programme. It is also comes with six promotional postcards with lovely pictures of Janet.
Overalll, a great buy but it is missing something- i don't know what!
Miss Jackson on top as always - By: , 29 Jun 2002
Finallly, the years best live concert captured on the immortal format of DVD becomes available, not only to fans of the artist, but to a public that has long awaited an event that defies criticism. The name Janet Jackson evokes memories of hot songs, great videos, effortless choreography & a seductive woman whose addictive smile has conquered the world. Put such a talent on stage & you get a stage spectacle not soon forgotten. The DVD originates from the last date of the 'All For You Tour' that took place from the Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. As a Janet fan it would be seen as a responsibility for me to say that this concert was the best I have ever seen in my life, but in truth it is much rather a pleasure to do so. From the opening scenes of the concert where our heroine appears on top of a pedestal elevating in the air, you subconsciously prepare yourself for an evening of highlights. Throughout the show the stage itself seems to transform before your eyes from its minimalist environment to whatever comfort the artist needs. The songs range from the Control-era (Control, Let's wait awhile, Nasty, What have you done for me lately) to the political agenda of Rhythm Nation (Rhythm Nation, Love will never do without you, Black cat). From the sexual orientation of Janet (That's the way love goes, Again, If) to the personal journey of The Velvet Rope (Got till' it's gone, Together Again). And then there's the new freedom provided by All For You (All for you, Someone to calll my lover, Doesn't reallly matter). A special appearance courtesy of Missy Elliot on 'Son of gun (I betcha think this song is about you)' kicks some sense into the players so commonly found nowadays amongst our men. Then of course there's the tentative foreplay of 'Would you mind' where Janet pulls a guy from the audience to perform a little fondling on. A scene most guys would be dreaming of after seeing. Miss Jackson looks as delicious as ever with her six pack & sensual curves. This concert would make alll of her competitors green with envy (Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez) as she pulls it off LIVE without lip- synching the whole event through. Throughout the show Janet thrusts her microphone into the audience & you are left in awe how the audience know every single word & of how much control she has over them. You also follow Janet backstage as she changes her clothes for each sequence. Added extras on the DVD include rare photo's, interview with its star & several cameos of the most outrageous guys lucky enough to have Janet entertain them on 'Would You Mind'. As I read this review I feel that these are just topics needing more detail, but there's so much to say that Amazon would have to edit it. In short, the DVD does not need me to sell it. It does so itself & it's worth the money you pay for it. I hope you find as much enjoyment in it as I have. May Janet Jackson have many more number one hits & stage shows.

Like many european fans, i missed the 'All For You' tour due to cancellations, so i was very pleased when i learnt it would be released on dvd.
For those Janet fans who wondered if she could top the 'Velvet Rope Tour'...she can & she did!!!
This concert is much more upbeat & funky than the dark & moody (but still excellent) VR show, It kicks of with Come On Get Up, You Ain't Right & All For You (alll from the All For You album)which is an energetic & amazing start to the show. The choreography is original & stunning & Janet looks amazing.
The highlights include special guest Missy Elliott appearing on stage for the deep down & funky Son Of A Gun, the shock of Would You Mind, & the revamped Control Medley.
Janet IS live throughout, finallly shutting up her critics, her dancing is excellent & the backstage footage is actuallly a great special feature which makes this dvd superior to other music artists releases who onlygive you gallleries & lyrics!
Janet is known for setting precedent with her stage shows as is her brother Michael, it seems no one comes close.
