Unbelievable Storyline, rushed - By: , 21 Jan 2006
I was extremely disappointed with this film, after reading the description i expected a well thought out plot & touching love story. However what i got was an unbelievable story, afteralll which "shy" girl would strip off & swim naked with a woman she had barely known for 2 seconds, & little time was spent on how their relationship grew & little was shown of their interaction with each other. A film to watch if alll you want to see is two naked women swimming together.
A last Kiss From Dana Plato - By: sydneyemms, 02 Jul 2004
Dana Plato is known to many people of a certain age for her appearance in the American situation comedy hit 'Diff'rent Strokes,' in which she played the part of Kimberly. The series ran from 1978 to 1984. Unfortunately her acting career could never escape her sitcom typecasting as the cute girl next door type. She tried to break this perception by posing for a pictorial in Playboy but it did nothing to help revive her career. Personal problems & a short jail term interrupted her career but she managed to get work in a series of B movies.
Released just before her early death 'Kiss', also known under its original title 'Different Strokes' (exploiting her sitcom past), is at its heart a sapphic love story. Plato plays Jill Martin, a New York art director who arrives in Los Angeles to work with a local photographer on a photo shoot. He's involved with another woman named Jill & is keen to get the two girls together. Bentley Mitcham plays the photographer Jack, initiallly keen to see the girls sleep together but shattered when he sees his girlfriend Jill awakened by this other woman to her repressed lesbianism. The girls then have to deal with a jealous Jack.
Despite its obvious exploitation roots the film actuallly develops into a touching love story along the lines of the Ally Sheedy film 'High Art' & fans of that film will find much to enjoy her. The DVD lacks any extras but at such a low price represents very reasonable value for money.
