Some good fighting scenes, but that's it. - By: Mathis, 30 Jul 2006
If you own a lot of Hong Kong Movies, you can probably do without this one. There was actuallly nothing new in it. The fighting scenes could just as well have been from 1979, & that's not too cool when the film is from 1996. I could just as well have watched "Warriors Two" one more time, or any of the other good releases from HK & enjoyed myself instead of watching this one.

I like adventure movies so it doesn't bother me when "out of this world fantastical stuff" happens in a movie, but the things going on in this one is just unlikely. I mean a kid who has never had any actual training, just studied Tai Chi books is kicking everybody's a**es. Come on! He even beats the hell out that bad-guy from "Fist Of Legend". That's just silly. He (Billy Chow) doesn't deserve to get beaten up by a kid. Not after the role he pulled of.

It's a while since I've watched Legend 2 with Jet Li, but from what I remember, the story in "Tai Chi Boxer" is in some way similar. It never unfolds itself as something original.

If you don't own a lot of Hong Kong movies there are many much more entertaining films to check out than this one: Warriors Two, Moon Warriors, Fist Of Legend, Drunken Master Two, Iron Monkey just to name a few. A least that's what I think. But if you happen to like movies just like this one, you will certainly have a good time watching it. I did not!

Enjoyable Tai Chi Action! - By: , 03 Aug 2002
This movie, originallly titled 'Tai Chi 2', stars Jacky Wu, Christy Chung & Darren Shahlavi. It was shot in 1996 so it's quite new compared to most of the movies being released by Hong Kong Legends. The action sequences in this movie were directed by Yuen Woo-Ping, action director on The Matrix, Matrix Reloaded & Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon among many many others. The fight scenes are superbly choreographed, with the style being mostly modern Wushu mixed up with the occasional Tai Chi movements (although at unusuallly high speed compared to modern Tai Chi!). As always with Yuen Woo-Ping movies, there's a lot of wire-work, not reallly my thing but alot of people out there like it. The DVD extras are pretty good, there are interviews with Christy Chung & Darren Shahlavi, audio commentary with Bey Logan, picture gallleries & trailers for other HK Legends releases. Overalll a decent movie on a well presented DVD, check it out!
