A GREAT FLOP - By: Lucia Braithwaite, 26 Oct 2007
I bought this because I adore Burton, as an actor, & his poetry reading. I could sit for hours & listen to his fabulous voice,he also had a presence, a beautiful face. This is such a disappointment, Burton looks tired, worn out, & drained. There is not much effort in his acting, & watching his movements I remember reading what a terrible state his body had become. He was on constant painkillers & alcohol & not much else. Tatum was bland, no sparkle, as if she was performing in a school play. The quality of the film is horrendous with poor colour. I actuallly bought this, thinking I would watch it from time to time, but sadly no.
Good Movie, Terrible DVD Quality - By: , 04 Nov 2005
The Quality of this edition on DVD is inexcusable.
It is barely watch-able.
You may observe as I did Ghosting, timing irregularities, color imbalance, faded color, fuzzy unclear picture.
This DVD looks as though, (and probably was) transferred from a 6 hr SLP mode old VHS tape! And a poor source & transfer at that.
I enjoy the movie itself, it is rather unique, a bit on the racy side, Unconventional film for it's time.
Somewhat lolita-esque in content with good drama.
Unfortunately I am not aware of a better quality video release available, so I just will have to bear with the poor video quality until such time as a new release improves.
Oh Dear - By: , 11 Jun 2003
There is little I can say about this film that will make it sound good. Perhaps worth watching just to see the state of Burton in 1980.
A poor script, although quite touching at times, leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Burton seems to be just playing along not reallly bothered about the acting. Burton is a fantastic actor & I can still watch him in this & enjoy it but he did better & I think this one should be written off.
If however you're a Burton fan you need this DVD.
