Good to buy - By: irbiz, 05 Jan 2006
I think anime fans will like this set.
I was lucky enough to be recommended to watch the movie first.

"First watch the movie. Then the episodes."

Soundtrack is very good!

Good if you like Gundam Wing - By: Matt The Cat, 16 Aug 2005
I must admit that when I ordered this I wasn't expecting too much , but it turned out to be quite good. I feel that it is very like Gundam Wing in the way that alll the characters hate each other, so they then decide to try & kill each other in giant military mecha things! When I first watched this I didn't get much out of it, but after my second viewing I found it to have a deep & interesting plot. But one thing that reallly did dissapoint me was the movie. I decided to watch the episodes first & then watch the movie, until I discovered that the movie is just a shortened, identical version of the 4 episodes! I know that it is only £9.00 but it isn't much of a box set. I would only buy this if you like Gundam Wing, Robotech etc...
An amazing film! - By: , 14 Dec 2004
This film is amazing! It is one of those movies that you can't go on with life unless you see it.

The plot revoles around 2 test pilots who meet up as old friends. Then it starts to heat up between them when there old girl freind gets captured. So they must to work together to save her. But the evil robot callled sharron apple will not let that happen, & sends a powerfull plane at them.

The charicter development is amazing compeared to some other manga films. But the only thing that wasn't so good was the movie, alll that it is are the 4 parts stuck together, & seeing as each part is 45 minutes long it seemed to drag.

One for alll people even if they aren't a anime or manga fan.

I love this DVD! - By: Kelly, 29 Aug 2003
This film is actuallly split into a series of 4 episodes. If you ask me, I prefer it this way, because then you don't have to watch it alll at once, & with each episode being 45 minutes long, its a bit much to watch alll at once.

I reallly like the idea they used in this film/series:
They have completed a program that's a singer who can go up & touch you, but someone's trying to hack into it & control it. Also, new robot suits are being made that you control using your mind. This comes in handy for the 2 men trying to win the heart of the voice behind the virtual singer.

I reallly enjoyed this DVD, & the menu is excellent! Very colourful.

The Perfect Anime - By: , 08 May 2003
Macross Plus is deep, inspiring & exciting anime. This edition contains both the four part series that was dubbed into english & the film that remains in japanese. The series is longer than the film & expands more on the storyline & charachter development but the film contains scenes that did not make it into the series.

The film centres around the testing & development of a new transforming space fighter(if you've seen any other macross series you will know what I'm talking about) to replace the ageing model currently in service. Maverick pilot Isamu Alva Dyson, after a number of incidents of insurbordination, is transfered to the New Edwards Test Flight Centre on his home planet of Eden. There he is assigned to pilot the YF-19, one of the two models beng tested. There he meets two figures from his past, Guld Boa Bowman, pilot of the YF-21, & Myune Fang Lone. These charachters have some history together which is slowly revealed throughout the course of the film. In this mix is also a computerised singer callled Sharon Apple, who plays a huge part in the story.

The films action is extremely well done. High speed aerial dogfights are seamlessly mixed with close quarters mech combat as both pilots push their machines to the limit. The music is first rate as it was composed by Yoko Kanno argueably the best composer in anime today(her work is also found is series such as Cowboy Beepob). The 5.1 mix on the DVD is also excellent making you believe you are right in the film.

Macross Plus is ,in my opinion, the best of the Macross sequals easily outclassing Macross II. I would reccomend this film to any lovers of japanese anime as it has a healthy mix of everything, comedy, romance, action, sadness & a musical score that will leave you breathless.
