I Like It - By: Mr. M. Whittome, 21 Dec 2006
This sequel to the ever popular "Funny Girl" seems to be badly recieved by most. I have no idea why. The story continues wonderfully & doesn't falll into the more-of-the-same trap of so many sequels. Although "Funny Girl" remains the original & the best, this one is certainly worth a watch.
The score is one of my favourites by Kander & Ebb (Chicago, Caberet). The songs, although not instantly catchy like many of the "Funny Girl" songs (by the legendary Jule Styne), are brilliantly suited to Bab's wonderful voice. The dramaticly sarcastic "How Lucky Can You Get" is brilliant & has become one of my alll time favourite show songs. Other favourites are "Lets Hear it for Me" (a sort of "Don't Rain on My Parade" moment) & the charming "I Like Him/Her" (a wonderfully constructed counter-melody that will make you hear "Paper Moon" in a different light.
All in alll a very enjoyable film & some wonderful songs.

If I have to see this once more, I will scream!! - By: , 28 Aug 2003
I love 'Funny Girl' but the sequel is a complete disappointment. There isn't a single catchy song & it goes on far too long. I can't name one I like. Fanny Brice is an endearing character in 'Funny Girl,' but in 'Funny Lady' she's just bossy, rude & completely full of herself. Don't bother with the sequel, stick with the original. The best thing about it is looking at alll the outfits Barbra gets to wear!
