'I'm being mean here!' - By: Ellison, 01 Jul 2007
I reallly liked the movie, first seeing it on live TV.

I thought the plot was well thought up, & the actors were extremely convincing.

The twists that take place in this movie get you annoyed with yourself, not being able to figure out why you couldn't guess it was going to happen.

I've got nothing more to say about this movie....!

I'm being mean here! Cause when i bought it on dvd, not off amazon :s, for some reason the disc wasnt good & 1 or 2 scenes dont work...

But that aint the movies fault!!

Anyway, if you like good action movies, get this!

What happened to Arnie? - By: Mike Jonze, 12 Oct 2006
Collateral Damage or whatever happened to Arnold Schwarzenegger's career? It's hard to say, but this is probably one of the worst films he's done (and let's face it, he's done some rubbish). Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big Arnie fan, but even I don't like this one.

Delayed at release after the September 11th bombings, you wonder why this was ever released at alll. But then again, it does do something the American's like to think themselves capable of - taking down a whole terrorist organisation with just one man.

Arnie had been on decline for years after reaching new heights with Predator/ T2 / True Lies - there reallly was nowhere left for him to go, but did he have to choose this project? It started so well, making amends for Batman & Robin, he came back with End Of Days. Then it alll went wrong. The Sixth Day & now this.

It's not an awful movie, but it has the feel of an 80's movie & does nothing for the audience of today - are we still to believe that one man, who looks like Arnie, can infiltrate another country & wipe out a whole terrorist organisation? I just wish they'd put a bit more thought into it.

This could have been a great gritty thriller about a man dealing with the aftermath of his families murder, but this is an Arnie film & we don't go to see Arnie for that.

It's big, it's stupid & it's loud & that's about it. Good thing that he's governor now as with films like this, his career was pretty much over.

Hmmmm......great if you like Arnie! - By: A reviewer called, 12 Jan 2006
This movie is not impressive. Classic Arnie movie, high body count, but a thin script, slightly far fetched action (which most of us love from time to time) After watching this film I was left with a feeling of "seen it alll before". What was good about this film? Well its a good movie if you like light entertainment with some heavy action scenes, & dont want to exert your brain cells. Very much the John Wayne effect at work here - same man, same part, but different story in each film. A must for alll your Arnie fans, indifference or pass it by if you expect higher things from your DVD entertainment viewing! But if you love the Arnie genre then its definitely for you, & guaranteed not to disappoint.
Another great "Arny" action movie! - By: K. Wyatt, 22 Aug 2003
Arnold did a wonderful job with this movie. At first it seems like just another predictable action movie. That is not the case. It has a well written plot line & the director carried it out superbly. A lot of people have said that Arnold is getting too old for these movies. I disagree. "Collateral Damage" is living proof that he still has what it takes to make good action movies. {ssintrepid}
Good action, relevant plot and surprising ending - By: , 16 Mar 2003
I have mostly enjoyed Arnold's movies, with some exceptions (such as Commando, Twins & the most terrible one where he - oh horror! - gives birth to a child).

To me at least it seems that Collateral Damage is both related with & an opposite of Commando; related because both movies have a revenge plot. Opposite because whilst the latter was characterised by amazingly bad acting & a predictable ending, the former both displays a convincing performance by Arnold & delivers a most surprising - if not shocking - finish.

The plot: I will not reveal too much here in case the reader is yet to watch this move, but the story begins with Arnold losing his family in a bomb blast set off by a terrorist. We witness Arnold's agony, the search for revenge, the captivity in a South American jungle, the friendship with the terrorist's family - & - the incredibly shocking ending.

I know that another review here says that the terrorist is portrayed in a way too sympathetic light, which makes it impossible to despise him as much as we despised the bad guy in Commando. I disagree. And very much so: One quality of Collateral Damage is that we get the impression that there is a human side to the terrorist; we start to understand/think that even his family opposes his evil plans & what he has become; we start assuming that a relationship is developing between Arnold & the terrorist's wife.

In other words, one gets an impression that the plot is taking a particular direction & that the ending will become logical & predictable. But not so! The movie takes us to the conclusion that you can trust no-one, & that nothing should be taken for what it is. And indeed, that fanaticism can override even natural human relations. In my opinion, that is no bad plot at alll.

Let me put it like this: If you are looking for something with lots of killing & a banale plot (such as Commando) or explosive sci-fi (such as Total Recalll & Terminator II), then Collateral Damage may be an unsuitable choice. But if you want to watch a solid performance by Arnold, an unusual plot & at the same time great action, then Collateral Damage may be what you are looking for.

I may be accused by some of entering deep waters now, but to some extent I would compare parts of the plot in Collateral Damage with the one present in the fantastic Arlington Road. Watch Collateral Damage & you will understand why.

Best regards
