Wonderous Adventure - By: C. S. Ebrey, 20 Apr 2008
This film is not ordinary or a typical war drama. Don't expect glossy hollywood trappings. Well, what can you expect? You can expect supreme acting, especiallly of the the young Christian Bales. You can expect excellent & dramatic visuals. You can expect what amounts to the most amazingly true story ever seen on the screen through the eyes of a child. You can expect Steven Spielberg's best production to date. What you can expect is a visual spectacular that will emotionallly challlenge you.

Absolutely awesome film, very much underated.. If anything watch It for the action plane scene around the camp. I find it hard to believe it was filmed in 1987

watched this film last night with the wife & 15 year old son. alll like to watch films found the film ok but can get a bit strange at times also can be a bit slow in parts. Not the best steven spielberg film for me although good acting by a very young christian bail ( new batman)

An amazing tale of the child's view of war. One of my favourite books & easily my favourite film. I recommend this to anyone with heart, consideration & understanding of the human cost of battle
Speilberg's best serious movie - By: D. Brockis, 05 Mar 2006
This is a very good adaptation of a very good novel. Speilberg is a great film maker but, in my opinion, not always the best storyteller. Fortunately here we have very true reading of J.G.Balllard's work: far better than his re-working of Schindler's Ark into Schindler's List. Definately worth watching.

If you do enjoy this, I would also recommend you watch the Japanes anime "Grave of the Firlies", which is an even more
powerful examination of the impact of war on children.
