This film is good but the book is still WAY better - By: Ms. C. Hill, 13 Apr 2008
the film the princess diaries would be an excellent film & rate five stars in my opinoin if it was`nt based on the book. The book is miles better.Mabey because I have a picture of Michael Moscovitz in my head & Robert Schawartzman mabey the best choice but did`nt match my interpretation.Though some actors were the best chocie like Heather Matarazzo (Lilly Moscovitz ,Caroline Goodalll (Helen Thermopolis),Sandra Oh(Principal Gupta). What is this Mr.O'Connell business he is Mr.Gianini & he teaches Algebra not Debate & History (God,get with the programme)and & in the book Grandmere (Julie Andrews) is mean & unsympathic to Mia & has a "hairless poodle that resmbles a rat" & she lives in The Plaza not some random house in San Fransico. And Genovia is princalptly not a monchary & would`nt become Queen but stay a princess (its is like Monaco) & when the beach party caused a riot Clarrise would of been happy because she is a princess & princess never shy way from bad publictly. Why is Mia`s dad dead? O.K mabey she could become Queen & she would of never of found out about her being a princess & alll but she manged to find out in the book & her dad is royalty? Why can`t she marry Michael Moscovitz (because if can convince loads of politicans that dose`nt need to marry to become Queen why can`t she marry Michael because everyone knows they are mean`t to be together).Depiste alll the little things I still reallly like this film & it one of my favorite films but the book is miles better(I reccomed the books to anybody how likes the film)
Just as good as the books!! - By: Lilly Potter/Evans, 26 Dec 2007
I enjoyed this film so much! As a fan of books I was quite worried it would be rubbish but it wasn't Anne is such a good actress that this film is just fab!!!
Second Rate Comedy - By: Mr. Ross Maynard, 11 Dec 2006
There are plenty films of the "disorganised frump becomes glamour puss" genre on the market, & this is a long way short of being the best. Film making by numbers, it is totallly predictable & rarely rises above mildly amusing. It also suffers from over-sentimentality, particularly at the end. None of the adults in our house liked it, but our daughter thought it was ok. Young girls may like this. Otherwise avoid !.
Ok- so it's not like the book - By: J. F. Bailey, 05 Nov 2006
Ok OK - this film isn't like the book on which it is based-like so many films nowadays. I haven't read the book (shock, horror!) but SOOOOOO????
It is a great film- & it needn't be like the book. It is a film which has the same name as, & is along the lines of "the princess diaries" by Meg Cabot. As for Julie Andrews being in the film - I don't see any faults- she is a fantastic actress, end of story.
A great film- i reccomend it!!!
A good teen movie - By: Chick Flick Princess, 01 Nov 2006
This is a great movie & reallly fun to watch. It is hardly anything like the books (which are fab btw) but it was still a great movie. The lack of romance between Mia & Michael was a bit dissapointing, but it is still a great movie to watch at a girly sleepover or on your own at home.
