Get In The House Fatty!!! - By: H. Walsh, 17 Jul 2008
i am sick of people comparing family guy to the simpsons. family guy stretches so many more limits & is a lot more unpredictable, making the resulting jokes so much funnier. (also, in the simpsons its like some characters aren't even there to be funny. marge for instance. i hate marge!) i recommend season 4 (family guy) as the best. my only criticism however, is that by season 7 the jokes are starting to become slightly thin & more predictable, & the plots are becoming a lot more insane. Brian.....with a human son. rightttttttttt. but trust me on this, seasons 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 are brilliant.
Brilliant first season. - By: MrMetalheadO'Hagan, 24 Jun 2008
When family guy was original. This season is brilliant funny & different alll the characters are funny, the episodes are funny. Best characters for me are brian & peter, stewie is funny, & i thinks it's hilarious the way they neglect meg thats funny. Great show until it got boring unfunny & annoying. I still need to check out season six but season 5 & 4 were good but it was just the same. So good buy if you want to buy a season.
The Simpsons...who're they? - By: Spike_Tsunami, 23 Jun 2008
So many times, Family Guy is compared to the Simpsons, & with the every increasingly old & boring feel about The Simpsons, Family Guy comes out on top more often than not. Anime/Manga had already proven that cartoons could be for grown ups too, & Family Guy nails that home. It's rude, crude & often amazingly offensive jokes have me in stitches plenty of times. The family is the perfect mix - A bad dad who tries his best...sometimes, a wife who's always trying her hardest for the family, a smart but unpopular daughter, a goofballl son, a 1 year old baby with plans of world domination...and an alcoholic dog. Couldn't get better.

(On a technical side, watch out for some moments of pixel breakup through the first season set)
Familiar but funny - By: R. Mullaney, 09 Jan 2008
Family Guy is quite blatantly influenced by the Simpsons. It features an overweight, drunken buffoon of a father, a patient mother, underachieving son, angsty daughter & a baby. It even goes so far as to steal whole episode ideas (father's works baseballl game, daughter trying to make friends with cool kids, mother's gambling problem, father & son in wilderness etc....). Normallly this would be reason enough for me to give this a wide berth but after catching a few episodes on TV, I realised Family Guy still has a lot to offer.

It's very well written & despite it's obvious plagiarism of Simpsons gags, the show is very funny in it's own right. It features a lot of adult humour (it's more risque than the Simpsons) & sight gags. It can be a little surreal but overalll it's well worth buying on dvd especiallly since the Simpsons is officiallly not that funny any more.
