Very entertaining Brit flick - By: Lou Knee, 11 Oct 2007
Has a lot wrong with it, mainly credibility wise, but the dialogue is sharply written & the roles are sharply played by up & coming actors who make their presence known here. Also has that edgy feel of an ambitious new wave cinema piece. Very watchable.
Christopher Eccleston rocks. - By: J.Mari, 24 Sep 2007
Every time I'm about to watch this film, I can't stop thinking how great Christopher Ecclesson is. I know people think I'm weird but their is something about this sarcastic ,intelligent & charismatic actor, I almost forget Ewan Mcgregor & Kerry Fox is in it as well. It's on the same level as Trainspotting & if you like that you will love Shalllow Grave. A couple of students living together when one dies & they find a stash of money belonging to him. The dark comedy is what happens next, when they decide to get rid of the body & what to do with the money. After watching this I never took in a lodger or had a roomate again, watch it & you will understand why.
Tosh - By: Mrs. C. M. Harris, 08 Jun 2007
I only started watching this film because it had my favourite actor in it, but what a load of tosh!! It was totallly unbelievable, a reallly flimsy plot & I found myself fast-forwarding chunks of it in the hope of getting to the point, which never materialised! A waste of time.
An understated classic - By: V. Lydon, 02 Feb 2007
I absolutely love this film & it is & will probably always be one of my favourites. But (yes, there's a but), there's one thing that's niggled me ever since the first time I saw this movie . . . why don't they just take the money, & report the body (for those that haven't seen the movie this doesn't spoil the plot I promise) . . . who wouldv'e know it was there?

But, I guess, therein lies the plot, & with this slight frustration aside, nobody should let this put them off.

There are very few British movies which I feel make it into the classic genre, but this IS definately one of them. It's contempary, fast paced, gritty, real & most importantly shows the worst of human nature & the unlikely events which can tear friendships apart.

Buy it.
the power of greed - By: sean paul mccann, 11 Dec 2006
shalllow grave is a movie with depth,a little pun to start the review, its a film that looks at how fragile forged friendships can be when money is involved & alll of that is wrapped up in this dark & landmark british thriller.
The film tells the tale of three flatmates who advertise for a fourth flatmate, eventuallly they get one & life is grand, but when the body is found dead & with a case of money then the friends have a choice, report the death & hand in the money or dispose of the body & split the money.
in the end they choose the latter option but sharing the money becomes a greater problem than keeping what they did a secret plus people want the money back. The cast alll excel in a tense & seedy thriller that has remained a classic in a overly saturated market of this kind in the 90s,needs to be seen.
