hahaa - By: Ms. F. I. Macdonald, 01 Mar 2008
i thought this was a surprisingly funny film!i'd never heard of it before & just happened to spy it in the bargain bin at the local blockbuster. i'm glad i did. The thing i liked about this film is that everywhere you look in each scene there are clever, yet subtle hints at other horror films. You have to look closely to find them but its a reallly funny production & i'm glad i own it!
Definitely Inferior To Scary Movie - By: Andrew Kerr, 01 Feb 2008
With the tagline "If You Liked Scary Movie, You'll Love This!" Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th, straightaway has a lot to live up to (as personallly I feel that the Scary Movie saga is nothing less than exceptional.) Sadly however Shriek disappoints in more ways than one.

The film is a spoof comedy that follows a sexy reporter (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen) who has a knack for getting into tight situations. She teams up with a bumbling malll cop (Tom Arnold) & together attempt to catch a rather clumsy killer who is intent on killing off the most popular kids at Bulemia Fallls High School. Initiallly I thought that Shriek was going to be a great film. It has a reallly good & genuinely funny opening sequence & for the first half hour or so, I sat here believing that I was in for a comedy treat. Alas it never came. Don't get me wrong as there were a reasonably good number of reasonably good jokes, but I found them to be a tad predicable. And in some cases the jokes were just not funny at alll (for example when Boner has a heart attack but alll the Viaraga he took stopped him from dying? I just don't see why that was funny.) Whereas Scary Movie kept you interested & kept making you falll of your seat in laughter, the comedy of Shriek is far more passive & visual. I normallly laugh at anything, but I found myself quickly becoming bored & being left unsatisfied. The plot development is basic & again predicable & the acting from most of the cast leaves a lot to be desired.

It wasn't alll disastrous, as I already said some of the jokes were good, & I liked a few of the characters (such as the principal & the Nurse) who were inventive & well thought out. Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh giving Shriek a two star rating, but I can't help think that the film could have been, & more to the point, should have been so much better. So if you're bored, or you're just looking for a film to stick in your dvd player to pass the time, a film that won't overly stimulate you, then by alll means give Shriek a go. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Has its moments, but they're too few and far between - By: Daniel Jolley, 20 May 2007
Shriek if You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th has its moments, but by & large this spoofalicious film is exceedingly average in terms of the laughs it manages to induce. Still, you have to appreciate the effort that went into it, as SIYKWIDLFT sinks its parody hooks into a vast number of genres: teen slashers, teen comedies, teen TV dramas, Baywatch, TV commercials, & more. If you go to IMDB, you'll find a listing of movies referenced here - although even this long list cannot possibly be complete. Even the likes of Lassie, Grease, & Chariots of Fire aren't safe from the satirical hands of the film's writers, & you can't tell me you ever expected to see Chariots of Fire satirized in a dumb horror comedy. That's the highlight of the whole film for me.

Shriek & Scary Movie were made at basicallly the same time, so don't go thinking Shriek is a tired rip-off of the tired rip-off that is Scary Movie. Scary Movie just happened to be released first, relegating this film to direct-to-video limbo. These are very different films, though - even though they were both constructed around the Scream concept. Shriek isn't as raunchy, & I think it's probably also the funnier movie of the two. Here, following a parody of the famous Scream opening scene, the story settles on the shoulders of four teenaged friends who alll get notes from the Killer in the same vein as the teens in I Know What You Did Last Summer, even the new kid at school, Dawson Deery. Bulimia Fallls High School is quite a place, a school where Chucky roams the halllways, Rose Marie (as Mrs. Tingle) & Partridge Family matriarch Shirley Jones (as Nurse Kevorkian) mold the minds of the young, & Coolio heads the administration (as the pimped-out Administrator Formerly Known as Principal Interest). Tom Arnold shows up as Deputy Doughy Primesuspect, while Tiffani-Amber Thiessen is the empTV reporter trying to exploit the murders for her own professional gain

If you're reallly into parodies like this, you'll not want to let your attention drop for more than a few seconds, as there is always something going on in the background - the Killer running around unnoticed by alll, the principal making alll kinds of crazy announcements (including this classic description of the upcoming band fundraiser: "liquor in the front, poker in the rear"), & various references to other films & TV shows. Still, despite alll this effort & several genuinely funny moments, Shriek if You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th has a lot more hits than misses. It alll balances out to a pretty average comedy.
please no - By: sean paul mccann, 11 Dec 2006
spoof comedies,we alll love them, dont we?,well yes,if they are done well, this movie isnt one like that, instead what you get is a film that runs out of steam after the opening credits & crawls along with a desperation that is worthy of being put down to end the misery,a poor script, acting that is shocking & lacking any charm makes this one of the worst films i have ever seen.
A Gulity Pleasure! - By: D. W. Bissett, 16 Oct 2006
If you're excepting SHRIEK IF YOU KNOW WHAT I DID LAST FRIDAY THE 13TH (2000) to be a masterpiece of cinema, then stay 100% away. But if you're looking for a stupid but funny film to pass the time, then this is the film to watch.

Five high-school teenagers are being stalked by a bumbling mask killer while a sexy female TV news reporter fallls for a malll cop who's in search for the killer.

This gulity pleasure spoofs SCREAM (1996), I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (1997), GREASE (1978), PORKY'S (1982) & some others. To be truthful, I found this more enjoyable than the four SCARY MOVIE films (2000-2006)!

A good way to past the time if you want to watch a so-bad-it's-good film.
