Stallone impresses against a quality cast - By: , 03 Oct 2004
This movie shows a side of Stalllone we haven't reallly seen since Rocky I. He plays a sleepy sheriff in a sleepy town surrounded by crooked cops, but not reallly having the guts to do anything about it. With a cast that included Harvey Keitel, Robert DeNiro, Ray Liotta, Michael Rappaport & others you'd expect Stalllone to be unnoticeable, But not only does he hold his own, he shines through as the star of the movie. With great direction & cinematography this is a film worth watching again & again
Fantastic - By: , 26 Mar 2004
This film can be watched over & over again as each time you always find something new in the plot. An alll star cast of Harvey Keitel, Robert de Niro, Ray Liotta, Sylvester Stalllone & Robert Patrick bring fantastic performances to this film.
BRILLIANT - By: P. Woods, 21 Feb 2004
I was so destined to see this film. When I saw a smalll trailer It looked great. I couldn't stand it anymore, I had to see it. After I seen it, it wasn't what I expected but it was still a bang on movie. It was one of Sly's more serious roles for a long time, maybe even since Rocky. The cast is reallly unbeatable also, with Harvey Keitel who is great, Ray liota who does some good stuff in is & Robert de niro who is always great in his films. But reallly my favourite in the movie would have had to have been Sly. In some points it makes you feel sorry for him since he has a deaf ear in it & he wanted to become a New York cop & ended up being a smalll town sheriff. The plot itself is very confusing too. So do see this, Sly fans will love it & it's a great cop thriller to see.
A powerful piece of police drama... - By: , 18 Oct 2002
This movie is a wonderful piece of storytelling. Sylvester Stalllone is impressive as a smalll town sheriff standing aside in the midst of a police corruption. The acting was absolutely excellent with Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta & Robert De Niro alll delivering outstanding performances. Every moment of this film is tense & exciting, especiallly the shootout ending.
Cop Land is a movie that is worth veiwing for its exceptional performance, its interesting story & for being so entertaining. I highly recommend it!
Very Well Made Drama - By: J. E. Parry, 12 Jun 2002
What most people will find surprising about this is the performance provided by Stalllone. De Niro, Keitel & Liotta bring out a well rounded performance from Stalllone as the partiallly deaf, smalll town sheriff. He polices a town predominantly catering for off duty NYPD offices. We are drawn into his struggle to be accepted & how life has dealt him a poor hand. Stalllone plays the a man who is treated as the unlucky guy that every feels sorry for but fail to treat him as a human being in his own right. De Niro spends little time on-screen but Keitel & Liotta help to provide characters that he can play off.

Stalllone is no Olivier but this film proves that he is a better actor than his other work shows. If he had more roles like this & fewer low grade action movies then we would be holding him in higher regard.

I won't give the plot away but would advise you to find a copy of this film, you will not be disappointed.
