This film demands on putting every person into sterioticial roles, even on the front cover it has pictures of the main charecters & labels them like Geek or Sex freak. This can be sometimes funny but mainly annoying because nobody is just one thing. This film is slightly surial & although having a frankly ludicrous basis it handles it with humour & charm. Not being an American teen movie its significantly less glossy & is much more gritty. After being set up on a date this girl desides to go to this virtual reality confrence where she desighnes her perfect man. but while she is making him there is a explosion & the man she creats come to life. This movies reallly isnt as simple as it seems there are very many twists & turns. Although there are fairly considerable plot holes in this film it is still charming at at points very funny.
Good.....but - By: , 05 Feb 2003
Cheese,Cheese & more cheese,
Now being a big fan of alll things teen, brit & corny i thought id love this film, but i wasnt too impressed. Its funny & I do love to watch when ive had a bad day of lectures but Its not something that i can watch over & over again,i hate to say it but the americans do succeed much better in making teen films, not including the gross out genre, films like 10 things....and bring it on....have a lot more class & style to them & dare i say it...even a wee bit more sophisticated....this film does tend to give 16 year old brits a bad name....its not a gross out & its not a sweet teen film....its somewhere in the middle, and it doesnt wash.Despite alll this, the cast is good & the storyline is quite good, the script is ok but could do with a lot more one liners we could quote!
BRING ON THE CHEESE
Hilarious comedy to melt your heart - By: , 22 Aug 2002
As a comedy/romance lover, I own plenty of your standard "Teen angst romance" DVDs, but I keep coming back to this one a good two years after I bought it.

The cast are excellent, hilarious & believeable in their roles, with some brilliant one-liners. There is little to distract from the main plot, & while it's pretty obvious how the film's going to work out, you can't help smiling when Justine finallly gets her man.

The film is supported by an excellent soundtrack - some songs you'll know, some you won't, but they work well.

If you want a film that's going to cheer you up & you don't mind a bit of the "stereotypical ways of young love" with a twist, this is the film for you.

To think, Star Wars pushed this off the cinema screen, tsk! - By: V. Heritage, 13 Aug 2001
There's been quite a bit of negative press in reviews of this film, but if you're a fan of the books by Chloe Rayban (title altered but same premise) like me then you'll enjoy it none-the-less. This is a teen brit flick that definately grows on you, with believable issues & strong central characters even the wildly absurd can be conveyed relatively believeably. Not a classic, but it can stand multiple viewings, especiallly the changing room scene (if you're a girl that is ;) ) Seriously though, watch it, you wont be disappointed.
Excellent, it was a great british film! - By: snazziabi16@aol.com, 09 Feb 2001
Wow, what can I say this was great having Rupert Penry-Jones starring as a female in a mans body. He put this forward so well very believable especiallly in the changing room. A 10/10 for an excellent performance from Laura Fraser & Rupert Penry-Jones. GREAT!!!!!!!
