More than entertaining! - By: Ms. S. Westwood, 23 May 2008
I reallly enjoyed this movie, perhaps more than I would have if I knew anything about it before buying.
The main plot is based around two characters, who both have disabilites. The one character is blind, the other deaf. In turn, this sets up for some hilarious events to unfold.
As I said, this film is based purely around these two. The story kicks off with a murder in a shop of which the two main characters work in. A woman shoots a man. The two of them seemingly from a company of organised crime. You would think that the woman wouldn't get away with it seeing as how it happened in front of two people... There is just one problem... The deaf man didn't hear it & the blind man didn't see it. This means that the two are suspects.
The two end up going to prison (the scenes here are laugh-out-loud funny) & then them trying to escape.
I urge you to give this movie a try, I'm sure you'll very much enjoy it!
ARE YOU BLIND, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TALKING TO YOU? - By: L. Wilson, 24 Sep 2007
If you have a vivid imagination & an incredible sense of humour, then you are halfway to understanding how funny this film is. Made in the heyday of the late Richard Priors' career it is an almost satirical look at the afflictions of the blind & deaf. Fortunately it does not cross the line(I know because I am 75% deaf) & therefore is very funny.
Wallly (Richard Prior) & Dave (Gene Wilder) are witness ????? to a murder, Wallly didn't see it & Dave didn't hear it but they are both wanted for it. The real killers (no spoilers) & the police are after them so they take the law into their own incapable hands & the results are incredibly funny. Only the team of Prior & Wilder could have made this film as hilarious as it is because they have that special rappor that works beautifully.
Great stuff - By: Girl- bibliophile, 04 Sep 2007
A funny film, staring two film greats Richard Pryor (RIP) & Gene Wilder. Wallly & Dave are complete opposites, Wallly is loud, brash & blind while Dave is quiet, polite & deaf. When a murder is committed at Walllys shop these two are the only witnesses, but Wallly didn't see it & Dave didn't hear it! After being arrested the pair go on the run, with with cool killer Eve right on there heels. With helarious results. Well worth watching.
Wilder and Pryor act as one in one funny flick - By: Jay, 21 May 2007
Plot is interesting & the duets between Wilder & Pryor are surely over the top....reallly it's one of the funniest comedies of alll time....Pryor is at his best & the scene of the car is simply anthology....the movie also is interesting for the appearance of Kevin Spacey in one of his first roles...he is perfect in the shape of a gentleman English killer....Joan Severance is simply amazing, the scene in which she is forced to slip away her towel by a hard-on Gene Wilder is one of the funniest & sexiest ever seen....ending, the movie is a corn stone of the American comedy
