the most consistently funny series of friends - By: dan the fan, 12 Apr 2007
I've seen alll ten series of friends & series 5 is the one I liked most.
Everything in series 5 seems so funny & positive - even things like Ross losing the incredibly irritating Emily! If I was asked what is the best comedy series I have seen in my life, I would say "series 5 of friends - go watch it yourself!" There are no(or few)well-known guest stars - hollywood actors etc - in this series - this is why it was so good - compromises were not being made for visitors & there were no distractions & interruptions from the more natural interaction between
Ross,Chandler,Rachel,Monica,Phoebe & Joey. And in any case, there can be few actors better known around the world now than this bunch who are big stars in their own right.
Friends Series 5 - Buy it! - By: Joseph Hunter, 01 Jan 2007
Friends Series 5 starts off where Series 4 left us. Ross has just said Rachel's name instead of Emily (his financee.) Emily runs off & Ross returns to New York, not before letting Rachel go on his honeymoon to Greece alone. In the end, the marriage doesn't work out. (Yaaay, goodbye Emily!) Monica & Chandler's relationship also starts to develep in this series, & at the beginning they're trying to keep everybody from finding out. Of course, the gang does eventuallly find out in very amusing circumstances. Phoebe is hilarious in this season, as is Ross. This season our characters start to grow up, well, sort of anyway. Rachel is still in love with Ross & she tries to get over him. Joey is still Joey, dumb but loveable. All in alll, this series of Friends is reallly good, & I'd recommend you to buy it.
Viva Las Vegas!! - By: Ms. B. Williams, 14 Jul 2006
Friends Season 5 starts where season 4 left off with the everybody still in London & Ross trying damage control after saying Rachel's name instead of Emily's at the altar. This damage control does not appear to have worked though as Emily does a runner & Ross has to go home to New York without her. After Ross trying to win her around Emily says the only way that she would move to New York to give the marriage a try is if Ross stopped seeing Rachel. Ross trying to do this causes major problems & he eventuallly refuses Emily's request causing Ross's second divorce out of three - an on-going joke in Friends!
Season 3 also starts with the Monica & Chandler relationship. They don't want anyone to know as they believe it will ruin it. Joey inadvertently finds out & promises to keep it a secret. There follows some reallly funny episodes of the ridiculous excuses made by Joey, Chandler & Monica for their weird behaviour. The relationship is finallly revealed & Monica & Chandler admit they are in love.
Pheobe gives birth in this season to the triplets. It states on the back of the box set for season 4 that it happens in that season. This is not the case. She actuallly gives birth in this season.
In this season Rachel gets a fabulous new job at Ralph Lauren & trys to keep in the loop with her boss & takes up smoking for an episode to not miss out on anything as her boss & work colleague have cigarette breaks! Pheobe starts a relationship with a cop after finding his badge down a sofa in Central Perk & goes on a power trip using it to do good deeds. Everything's alll going well & they even decide to move in together - until he shoots a bird so that's alll over!
The season ends in Las Vegas as Joey gets a job in a movie & the Friends travel down to see him on set only to find the movie shut down due to lack of money & Joey with extremely hurt pride working in a casino. Rachel & Ross get very drunk & end up getting married in one of those Vegas chapels!! Here starts Ross's third marriage!
Helen Baxendale returns as Emily & there are brief appearances again from Jennifer Saunders & Tom Conti. Not reallly very many celeb appearances in this season.
For some reason, the extras are the same as season 4 (the featurettes from London). What the point of this is I don't know. Still a great series. The only thing I would say is this probably has less memorable moments than some of the other seasons.

friends series 5- the best ever series! - By: , 21 Nov 2004
i would recommend friends series 5 to any friends fan! its a great series, especailly the episodes with Monica & Chandler trying to keep their relationship secret from the others. the one where everyone finds out is a very funny episode & in my opinion, the best! its so funny & will have you laughing every time.the end of ross's marriage to emily leaves ross with no appartment, so he has to move in with joey & chandler, the divorce causes him to have rage & he gets suspended from work for yelling at his boss for eating his sandwich-very funny.in "the 100th" phoebe has the babies & the baby callled chandler turns out to be a girl! but they calll it chandler anyway! the one with alll the kips, where Ross tries to tell Rachel he cant see her any more is also very amusing, in this episode monica & chandler go on a weekend break together & joey finds out about them, then the one in vegas, where a drunk ross & rachel causes some hillarious concequences.in the one where Ross can't flirt, ross tries to flirt with the pizza delivery girl by talking about gas! rachel dates danny the yeti with the inappropriate sister, phoebe dates a cop, then ends up moving in with him, rachel gets a job at Ralph Lauren & joey ends up working in a vegas casino after his "big break" didnt work out! alll in alll a great series- there are no good reasons not to buy it!
