The Best TV Program Ever In The World!! - By: T. M. Perkins, 23 Mar 2006
This is my alll time favourite TV program!! It is now available in the UK on DVD as well as this wonderful double video. Both from Amazon. This was the best TV program ever made in my opinion & I reallly miss it now it has finished. TV has never been the same since, I used to like Bad Girls as well but the last couple series were not very good at alll so now there is nothing "excellent" on TV like this anymore. I reallly wish ITV would make another series of the Braithwaites or at least one more special one off episode! I am thinking of starting a petition to send to ITV & Yorkshire Television so anyone else who agrees with me & would like more of the Braithwaites please make your views known here or anywhere you can!!! ALSO, BUY THIS VIDEO OR THE DVD's NOW!!! MUST HAVE!!!!!
Top T.V.! - By: Mr. L. R. Buxton, 30 May 2005
"At Home With The Braithwaites" is a show that, in an ideal world, could just run & run. 4 series were made, alll of a high quality of acting, writing, & performing. Funny, tragic, quirky, & consistent, with virtuallly every character in it developed, flawed, & sympathetic in some way. What more could you want?

The story is simple - a kind housewife - played by Amanda Redman - wins the lottery. Her family, however, are alll troubled in some way or another, & she dreads adding to their confusion by admitting she has the money. Soon, though, the news becomes public anyway...

What's great about the show - & what got me hooked straight away - is the quality throughout, both in terms of making potentiallly unlikeable characters likeable, & in giving them interesting storylines.

The acting is top notch from the established 'stars', like Peter Davison as the grouchy, guilt-stricken, cheating husband, & from Lynda Bellingham & Sylvia Syms. But Sarah Churm is great too as the 'middle daughter', Sarah, who finds herself fallling in love for the first 'proper' time, & perhaps the honours are stolen by Sarah Smart as the eldest, Virginia, who Smart, by alll accounts, plays brilliantly. Virginia is the bolshy young lesbian who struggles to tell her family of her 'leanings', & also with her loneliness & foolishness.

Highly recommended, & if only more shows were up to this standard.

Fantastic drama, wonderful characters, brilliantly acted. I am reallly frustrated that I can only get the first series on tape.
One of the Best... - By: , 08 Nov 2003
My main comment: "when is the next series coming out on video? Please don't keep us hanging on!" Excellent storyline, characters & actors. It proves UK TV can still come up with the goods.
