bad language - By: Elza Luyendijk, 06 Jun 2008
This is my first review ever, but after seeing 'My little pony'and noticing my daughters reaction I have to.I was very surprised after alll the positive reviews to actuallly see this movie!!My daughter(3,5) repeats alll the name callling, and that happens a lot in this movie. For a little girl's story I expect more positiveness & gentleness. The 'My little pony'concept gives so many possibilities, what a shame they came up with this story!Unfortunately my daughter loves it & I have to get it from it's hiding place...
Rose tinted specs - By: S. L. Martins, 01 Oct 2007
I remember thinking this movie was fantastic when I was a child & my five year old daughter is now loving it just as much as I did. However, I do not have any memory of the ponies' voices being so high-pitched, screechy & fingernails-down-a-blackboard annoyingly hideous! Whilst I was delighted to see it again for the sake of nostalgia, I now have to leave the room when my daughter puts it on for the twentieth time...
Vintage cartoon but bad DVD - By: SlayerKat, 04 Feb 2007
This is a classic cartoon from the eighties & I bought it for my kids having enjoyed it as a child myself. I must admit to being a little bit disappointed with the quality of the DVD itself. The movie is great just as I remembered, catchy songs, great voices & likeable characters but they have not 'cleaned' up the DVD. It's worse than on a VHS copy & reallly bad sound. There are absolutely no extras apart from 'Play' & 'Scene Selection' which is a shame. But at the price it's worth it. The kids have been watching it over & over.
Fun film. Terrible DVD. - By: Blue Phoenix, 12 Mar 2005
I love how Hasbro are treating the My Little Pony line now. Not only are the new line of toys poor quality (have you ever had a Pony with nice hair out of the box? Or a Pony without a factory flaw?), but so is this DVD. It plays badly & it looks like it was just re-recorded from VHS. The cover of this DVD is also poorly done, with cheap artwork & awful grammar mistakes in the vague summary on the back.
I have a well-loved VHS copy of this film from my youth & it's in better shape than this DVD. What does that tell you?
Cheap & tacky DVD aside this is a fun film. Not the greatest script or animation wise, but it's still a nice nostalgia trip. The songs stay with you for a lifetime, & you can't help but feel the jealously rising once more as Megan plays with her Pony friends & you are trapped on the other side of the television screen.
In conclusion: Great nostalgia, awful DVD.
Nostalgic memories - my little pony - By: Mrs. Ruth E. Runacus, 14 May 2004
I loved this movie to bits when i was a kid & was reallly pleased to see it for sale again. Kids now will enjoy this animation movie just as much as I did nearly twenty years ago!
The ponies are in trouble & during the story, life lessons are taught to children in a natural way - unlike some animation today which seems to have no purpose or imagination. Also adults of my age group will appreciate rewatching this memorable movie!
