Watchable...I guess - By: R. Peregrine, 07 Aug 2006
OK, if you're intereseted in New York rap. Nas, DMX & a insane appearance by Method Man as an off-his head Ghetto assasin. Don't expect great cinema though. Dircted by the same Hype Williams who did those cheesy shiny-suit videos in the mid-nineties, the film itself is a bit of a mess, with nothing to say that Boyz'n'the Hood didn't say almost a decade earlier. While that film meant something, Belly is nothing but a slice of gun porn, played out to a Hip Hop soundtrack...I think Hype Williams needs to stick to his music videos.

A true HipHop cult classic with a Scarface flavour, up there with Friday & Menace II society.
Roll up another blunt son!!!! - By: , 27 Feb 2001
Nas, DMX, Taral Hicks, T-Boz & an appearance from Method Man over steps the boundaries of such a film. Hype Williams brings us a classic masterpiece of New York life told from a different angle, brings together the rapping world & his own directing ifluences aswell as his musical experties to create an epic from the streets of New York to the ghetto of Jamaica Gates. "F@#k it, im Tommy Brown!!!"
Nasir Jones was great in this movie. - By: , 06 Feb 2001
Nasir Jones showed the world not only could he rap, but he can also act. This movie is reflective on the New York mentality that is Nasir Jones. I hope to see more of Nas on the big screen.

Can you handle raw hip-hop? - By: , 23 Jul 2000
A Hype Williams film, portrayed NewYork style. Must see! Even stern Shammi gave this one a thumbs up, L.Rish bunned it down to this one many a time. Roll a phat one, relax, & bop your head!
