If one TV series from the Nineties should have made it to DVD this is it. Contrary to the complaints received by the police (who withdrew their support after this first series), it did more to make me feel sympathetic towards them than anything else I've seen on television. Makes The Bill look like Emmerdale! Which I suppose isn't that difficult reallly ...

'The Cops' is the best UK TV drama for ages & ages - totallly outshining 'This Life', & miles better than any comparable police show. This video box set contains the whole of the first series - hopefully they'll release the second series soon too. The episodes in this video-set work together as one story, but each episode functions equallly in its own right - also, the cast of characters is cunningly introduced one by one with each new episode. And the acting is SO good - you reallly end up believing in Roy, Danny, Mel, Giffen, Natalie and... everyone else, in fact!
