Hancock's Half Hour - More Classic Episodes - By: cheepnis, 21 Dec 2001
This is a chance for Hancock fans to catch up on some of the episodes that have only recently become available, although The Ladies Man was featured on an earlier tape. The episodes alll appear to be from the early series, around the end of 1959 & start of 1960. The Train Journey is a typical Hancock wind up, with 6 prickly, upper class characters subjected to two hours in a cramped compartment with Tony & Sid. Not an easy journey.
The Photographer sees Tony investing in the latest up to date equipment after his 1900's Image Reproducer fallls apart & he can no longer produce his "Symphonies in Emulsion".
In Sid in Love we find Sydney unable to face his Rock & Chips after fallling for the charms of the conductor on the No. 93 Bus. Unfortunately for him, Hancock decides to lend a hand, with predictable results.
Finallly, there's the Ladies Man. Although this has already appeared on a previous BBC tape, it is one of the best Hancock episodes of alll time. After a distinct lack of success with the local girls, Hancock enrols in the Mayfair Charm School for Men. The episode has a couple of hilarious fantasy sequences, including an energetic waltz with Arthur Mullard. An abso;ute must for Hancock fans.
