A masterpiece by Craven - By: Camilla Lea, 16 Mar 2008
Craven's "Scream" is a masterpiece, it can't be denied. The intricate references to previous horror-movie greats is fantastic & Craven voices his thoughts on the horror genre throughout the film through the character Randy, a movie buff.
There are many plot twists & turns that make for edge-of-your-seat viewing. I loved this film & I highly recommend it to any horror fan. I also recommend you buy the soundtrack - it's awesome.
I scream, you scream, we all scream! - By: S. Ainley, 18 Jun 2007
Ok, sorry for the bad title but it just popped into my head ok?!

Anyway, I loved this film, so much so I watched it twice in a row the first time. I think its a very clever take on some great old slasher movies but to get the real benefit you need to watch it two or three times to pick up certain bits of dialogue you may have missed the first time round for example (SPOILER ALERT) in the opening sequence the parents of Drew Barrymore's character, Casey, come home to find their house looking a wee bit worse for wear. Casey's dad on venturing further into the house realises his daughter is missing & her boyfriend has er spilled his guts onto the patio (although you don't actuallly see him see this is you get what I mean?!) he then turns to his wife & says 'take the car, drive down to the McKenzies' which mimics a line from, in my opinion, a cracking horror film, Hallloween when Jamie Lee Curtis Character tells the kids to 'run down to the Mckenzies' & save themselves from Mr Michael Myers. Its little things like this that make Scream a must for horror fans, Wes Craven's tribute to some truly great slasher movies.

All in alll Scream is a damn fun film, you'll hate the characters, they're just annoying but then thats what makes watching them meet untimely ends so much easier. Especiallly the bit with the cat flap..............
Not scary, scary, but great! - By: crazykat, 25 Dec 2006
I saw this last year & loved it! It is rather different to a lot of other horror movies. I loved the plot/storyline, characters & a lot of the characters were fairly young making it even better.
Any horror fan should see this!
Not exactly scary...but with Scream it doesn't matter - By: A. Gray, 03 Nov 2006
I would say don't watch this film if you are expecting to see a gut-wrenchingly scary film, but even though its not exactly what you would calll scary it is still totallly worth seeing. Scream in some ways is the ultimate film, having some gore/horror, some good laughs & a smalll romantic plot line.
Not much horror, more sub standard slasher comedy - By: Ben, 01 Nov 2006
Wes craven wes craven, what road will you go down next. I am extremely honest when i state that this film is basicallly a comedy slasher, yes the openening is gory perhaps scary (hmm) etc but it just cant be taken seriosly & if were alll honest, it doesnt want to be taken seriosly, which isnt a criticism. The killer for example is far from our standard smart killer, he stumbles around like a bumbling idiot, crashing into things, which when you see who the killer is isnt too suprising.

So is that a bad thing with this film, not reallly, is it a bad thing in terms of horror film? Yes. So make your minds up, if you want to buy a comical slasher then this is for you, if you want a horror film then i would have to say dont buy it. There reallly isnt much horror in this film, just some young people getting slashed by a bumbling idiot.
