Entertaining but not especially memorable sequel - By: Trevor Willsmer, 12 Dec 2007
Structurallly, U.S. Marshals, is a reworking of the The Fugitive, fulfilling the classic sequel brief of "the same but different": the producers substitute an incredibly impressive plane crash for the incredibly impressive train crash, a falll from a talll building for a falll from a dam & government defense secrets for drugs trials while throwing in the same plot device of an allly who turns out to be an enemy. The main difference here is no Harrison Ford, more Tommy Lee Jones & added Wesley Snipes (presumably on the run from the taxman) & Robert Downey Jr. (who reallly should have kept the sunglasses on until he finished rehab). There are no surprises, it's somewhat overlong & you won't remember it a day later, but it's energeticallly directed by Stuart Baird & superbly edited by Terry Rawlings & does its job effectively enough while you're watching it.
Sadly, UK buyers get short measures again - the Stuart Baird audio commentary & an additional featurette from the Region 1 NTSC DVD have not been included on this release, which simply includes the featurette on the spectacular plane crash.
Worthy Sequel to the Fugitive - By: Jay, 01 May 2007
Sequel to an outstanding movie The Fugitive (1993). In this film, the focus is on the team that was searching for Dr. Richard Kimble in the first movie. That team was led by Tommy Lee Jones, who won an Oscar for his performance, which probably helped spur this sequel. It worked, as Jones & company (Joe Pantoliano & others) are just as much fun to watch as they were in The Fugitive.
There are many similarities to the latter, especiallly in the first third of the film, featuring some tremendous action scenes. Instead of a train crash, we have a plane crash. Instead of Harrison Ford on the run, we have Wesley Snipes. In both films, you have such an involving story that the two hours fly by.
The Fugitive is still one of my alll-time favorite movies. If you were entertained by it as well but are wary of sequels, you needn't be here: this is very good.
A worthy sequel....... - By: , 04 Jan 2004
Tommy Lee Jones reprises his role of Sam Gerard from The Fugitive, to chase the framed yet innocent Mark Sheridan (Wesley Snipes). Robert Downey Jr. puts in a good performance as S.A. John Royce, a man who has a hidden agenda.
Good performances alll round - although I thought it wasn't as pacey as the first, Jones does a first rate job with ample support from Joe Pantoliano, Daniel Roebuck & Kate Nelligan to name but a few.
Some eye catching stunts & action sequences reallly hike the tension up. Keeps you interested until the end - a quite surprising end at that.
GRIPPING!!! - By: , 21 Nov 2003
A very good action film with a predictable script but an unpredictable ending. This was one of the best action films of 1998 mainly because it had Wesley Snipes in it. Mark Sheridan (Wesley Snipes) is on the run after a routine pick up went wrong. He ended up killing two federal agents in self defence. It is upto Sam Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones) to catch him. From crash landings in planes, to jumping off buildings, this film is has non stop action in it.
Tommy Lee Jones easily steals the show, but lets not take anything away from Wesley Snipes though, he is as reliable as ever being the action hero.
Tommy Lee Jones plays the no nonsense U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard & once again will stop at nothing to catch his fugitive. Little does he know that his fugitive is trained for this type of situation which makes him extremely hard to catch. But no one is that hard to catch for the great Sam Gerard, until now.
Great acting, suspense & action alll in one. Overalll, if you like either of these two actors you will love this film, if you enjoy action films you will love this film, just watch it & you will understand what I mean.
Enjoy!!!!!
WOW! - By: , 19 Feb 2001
Wow, is the only word that can be used to describe this soundtrack. It is absolutely amazing & matches so well with the brilliance of the actual film. I can close my eyes & remember each & every scene that each track came from. The soundtrack is also rated highly up there with the Back to Titanic one. If there is ever going to be a movie soundtracj you will buy, make it this one!!!!
