Sweet and amusing - By: Cottoboi, 29 Oct 2007
There are two things to keep in mind when approaching 'Jack'. The first is the fact that this is a family film made by Coppola, the famed director of numerous masterful dramas. The second is that Robbin Williams is genius & maybe his mawkish behaviour is not suitable for such a character. If there was ever a third it would be the fact that this is a movie critics love to poke fun at.
Whatever you would have heard, just remember that 'Jack' is classic, touching & beautifallly filmed. ESPECIALLY do not pay attention to the Amazon reviewer as the majority have voted him out already!
It has a sweet plot & is ultimately the film with nostalgia centered inside the middle. Like a chocolate cake. That's what Jack is, a chocolate cake. Don't forget it!
Awful Awful Awful... - By: Minty_peas, 30 Mar 2007
Absolutely awful, overly schmulzy Robin Williams garbage. Aargh !!! Robin Williams CAN act, CAN be very funny, but why, oh why, does he do films like this where he attempts to 'touch our heartstrings' but only ends up insulting the audiences intelligence as it attempts to manipulate their emotions, & boils the bile in your stomach !!! And don't go telling me that this is a great kids film, because most kids will watch anything on TV - its up to you as a parent/sibling/whatever to not stand for tripe like this & show your kids decent, original, funny, genuinely heart warming films !!! And as for Francis Ford Coppola, the director, what can you say ? I'm speachless...
Jack - By: I. H. C. Mellor, 18 Jul 2005
Our children saw most of the film on television, & reallly enjoyed it. They asked if we could get the DVD, so we did. It is a very unusual film, but very gentle. It certainly highlights social issues with people who are a bit 'different' to everyone else. Younger children will benefit from having an adult watching it with them as it does seem to raise some interesting questions.
Very interesting & rather thought provoking. Robin Williams acts the part of Jack, very well.

the first words that spring to mind are..... WOW! this film makes you laff cry & is full of heart. i dont think anyone could have played the part better than robin williams. he's an outstanding actor who reallly plays the part so well, he reallly realates with the charictor he's playing.

This film is a stroke of genius, it has it alll!
Suitable for family viewing, it has an amazing cast & world class acting by the incomparable Robin Williams. You'll laugh till you cry then cry till you laugh at the progress of the 10 year old boy with the appearence of a 40 year old man.
It is a touching & memorable film, but the scene with the tree house initiation is not for the weak hearted (in a funny sort of way)!
