Hammy Horror - By: Ramsey Tupper, 14 Aug 2008
This film is silly. Vampires never have & certainly don't exist. This is a greebo fantasy film designed to get the patchouli smelling pound out of the goth purse. Tom Cruise again disappoints with school play type pretending, ruining the whole film for any serious actors to shine. Yet again little big face adorns the cover of the DVD, this could be a good guidline as to the quality of the film. There could be a formula for the amount of Cruise face to size of cover equaling the overalll quality of the film. I have a zero tolerance approach in that prescence of Cruise equals the blues. The film's author, Mrs Rice had reservations about casting Cruise in this, if only people had listened to her. No oscar again for Cruise.
excelent! - By: Nicola Brooks, 26 Jun 2008
an unsuallly good vampire movie!
a lovely movie for anyone who likes vampire films & the book that gave birth to this movie!
im not a fan of films born of books, normallly finding them sorely lacking however this one is refreshing.
im not giving away much to do with the movie as it will spoil it but its alll about 2 vampires & their relationship.
the way it starts is 1 of the pair talking to a reporter & giving him an account of his years spent on the planet. what we then see is basicallly the events that happened to him, being narrated by himself in the present time.
there are some interesting characters in the film, the sets are wonderful as is the acting.
alll in alll a very well put together film that doesnt rely on the good old "im going to suck your blood!" routine to make people watch it, i think even the hardcore horror fans who only delight in the sight of severed heads will enjoy this toned down horror epic.
A feast! - By: MayGoodComeToUs, 13 May 2008
Tom Cruise must have done a truly fine job with this role because I did not like Lestat when I read the book (and I read the book before it became such a sensation...) & I REALLY did not like Lestat when I watched the movie. I can, to some degree, understand everyone's fascination with him. He is the classic & ultimate sociopath; charming, seductive, souless...
I mentioned Cruise but I should say that everyone in this movie did a magnificent job with their roles...
The cinematography is lush as are the costumes.
In short, a feast! Drink deeply & enjoy!
interview with the vampire - By: Lucia Hanakova, 29 Apr 2008
this movie must be one of the best of its kind, when I first saw it years ago, alone in the dark, my parents asleep, after midnight.. & it was magical & I fell in love with Lestat. tom cruise has never looked as charming, as dark or charismatic & the way he moved his hands was just captivating.
in this movie meet three of my favourites, brad, tom & antonio & get synchronized in the glory of the ever breath-taking idea of vampirism & make it look real & beautiful & painful at the same time.
I am giving it five stars because it deserves them & because Tom alone earned those five stars with his performance.
I think I am in love with Lestat - By: Lady Juli Thorpe, 17 Jan 2008
I have read almost everyone of Anne Rice's books. Even those under different names. But none of that happened until I watched this film. I loved this film so much. I believe it might have been the best acting of Tome Cruise, Brad Pitt & Antonio Banderas. Many say that it is easier to watch the movie than to read Ms Rice's books. I believe that the movie is a great way to introduce you to her books. It is a must see!
