Five motherless children go out into their garden every day digging for treasure so that they can help their inventor dad pay off his debt & thus restore the family honour. They also many other things such as selling poems to the newspaper etc, which don't turn out as planned & make the whole situation worse. However with the help of a kind lady doctor the father manages to sell his fridge invention & pay of the debt, just before the balifs arrive.
All the cast are very good in their roles; Camilla Power as Dora the eldest of the five, Felicity Jones as Alice, Kristopher Milnes as Oswald, Ben Simpson as Noel the aspiring poet, Patsy Bryne as the rather sweet Eliza, Nicholas Farrell as the father of the five children who is desperately trying to sell his invention to pay off the debt, & Ian Richardson as the very nasty loan shark, Haig, to name but a few.
Overalll, 'The Treasure Seekers' is a wonderful childrens film based on the classic novel by E. Nesbit (author of The Railway Children), that will entertain them for the two hours that it is on & i'm sure that they will want to watch it a few times more afterwards. Some nice extras on the DVD too. Highly recommended if you have young children but somthing that the whole family can enjoy.
