OK but very out of date now - By: , 14 Sep 2001
I bought this book primarily because I have the same author's TCP/IP Network Administration which is very much the definitive reference on TCP/IP for Unix. I had high hopes for this book but sadly it failed largely to live up to them. While it is fairly well written in itself, much of the material is essentiallly covered in the other book. The PC section does have a lot of step by step instructions on how to do various tasks but is now well out of date (heavy emphasis on DOS for example) that tends to nullify whatever value it may have. It definitely needs a major update before I would recommend buying it to anyone.
