A nun's journey to free her abducted students in n. Uganda - By: deliciousamb@aol.com, 13 May 2002
This book is based on the first hand accounts of a nun, government officials & abducted girls ranging in age from 9-13. The girls were abducted from their dorm room in the middle of the night & forced to become soldiers & the concubines of male commanders in the Ugandan rebel group, Lords Resistance Army, which has been waging a war on Uganda & anyone perceived to support the government since 1986.

It begins approximately at the point of the abduction & goes through the several years of Sister Rachel's tireless & courageous journey to have the children returned to their families. Sister Rachel's efforts brought the Aboke girls into the international spotlight & highlighted the plight of children abducted & forced to give up their childhood for a cause they know little to nothing about.

While the book lacks a bit substantively, the story is quite compelling & is certainly worth reading for anyone who is interested in the complexities of the issue of child soldiers.
