East to use - By: D. Massey, 16 Jan 2008
This book has just arrived & I've been flicking through it for a while, it is reallly well laid out in the order that you would probably need it ie Basic conversation, customs, hiring a car, accomodation etc.
The food section (close to my heart!) is great with good descriptions of local cuisine & lists to alllow your waiter to point at foods.
Dictionary seems very extensive for such a little book.
Very pleased with my purchase & expect it to be well thumbed by the end of the year!
A Goldmine - By: oxdt, 03 Jun 2006
Hugely more useful than what passes for an English-Romanian dictionary, even if the competition for Romanian phrasebooks were stronger this phrasebook would still be hard to beat. Although Berlitz may lack the contemporary edge of Lonely Planet (who don't have a phrasebook devoted solely to Romanian anyway) their scope is huge, every situation has helpful explanations of how buses/telephones/religious services work in the country. In addition it includes basic grammar, common abbreviations, conversion tables & even a map of Romania & Moldova. Just a shame that they've spoiled the most recent edition by writing much of the text in the colour of flourescent sick.
A well-organized, thematic wordbook - By: carole@otenet.gr, 18 Apr 2001
It's not easy to find a good English-Romanian/ Romanian-English dictionary, so I eventuallly bought this phrase book. It's very useful because it gives you alll the vocabulary necessary to deal with everyday life & conversation. Everything is arranged into eight different sections you can easily find using the thumb index & its colour coding. There is also information on gastronomy, sports, cultural events, etc,... in Romania.
