A fantastic and refreshing blend of Science and Literature - By: Salvador Elias VENEGAS-ANDRACA, 02 Aug 2002
Elena Poniatowska in one of the best & most beloved mexican
writers & it is due to both her outstanding literarian skills
and honesty.

'La piel del cielo' is a novel about science, national identity
and love in Mexico. Indeed, the work pictures the
devastating efforts a scientist has to go through in Mexico
in order to succeed, as well as the contradictions &
misunderstandings that keep science away from the hands of our
society.

La piel del cielo is also a reminder. In every single page I
found (again) the hope & strenght that have kept the fire of
science & literature on in my heart since my teenage.
In addition, the powerful & tender love story around our dear
astronomer is a virtual mirror for any human heart.

In my opinion, La piel del cielo could be:

- an inspiring book for children & teenagers to approach the
fascinating worlds of science & literature

- a refreshing wind in the life of adults, for whom it is very
easy to forget about the wonders of Nature & the fantastic
worlds that the human mind & heart can create

- in particular for us scientists, La piel del cielo is a
lovely & brave look at the words we would like to tell
whenever we are asked what we do, who we are & how we feel
about it & ourselves.
