A good guide but with some flaws - By: Junishi no Tatsu, 19 Aug 2008
This books is a wonderful guide to a very useful tool for manga artists of various levels. I have a few Copic markers but several of the similar, cheaper Promarker, which are also alcohol based & twin-tipped, but £2 compared to Copics £5 per marker (from the shop I got them from, sets can add up cheaper depending on the supplier). It shows you some guides & even some tips to prevent (or at least reduce) the ink bleeding alll over your work, making it easier to create sharp detail. It also explanins how to effectively use an airbrush.

However, one thing I was quick to notice was that the markers used in this book are a sub-section titled 'Super Brush' but my own are simply a broad nib & a fine nib. This is important because the different nibs create different effects. Do cheeck them before working with them.

Second, one flaw for an English-speaking market was referring to brands of paper that I believe are only available in Japan, since not everyone has access to a Japanese supply store it would've been a better idea to research American or British counterparts.
Good for beginners - By: Marine_Snow, 10 Feb 2004
This book is concentrated on the different uses of copic markers, therefore make sure you already own some copic markers before you buy this book, otherwise you feel as though you wasted your money.

This book is good for beginners because it shows you many ways in which you could use the markers step by step & besides it made me become a better artist with a bit of practise. The book also features a colour chart, equipment which could be used with the marker, the best effect on the type of paper your using, types of techniques etc.....

If your looking for copic markers you could get them from www.animebooks.com (It is very expensive, but worth it if you want to be a copic marker artist) & remeber to buy this book once you got your markers because you'll be saying "why didn't I buy this book before?"

Good, - By: angelus@ukonline.co.uk, 17 Jan 2002
To fully enjoy this book you reallly need to own a full set of Copic Sketch markers, which are quite expensive. The book shows various techniques for colouring you pictures in various styles, it also teaches you how to create backgrounds using different mediums, e.g. oil pastels. This is an essential purchase if you are stuck without the convenience of digital colouring software.
