Helpfulness - By: Mr. Michael A. Reeves, 03 Aug 2008
The Essential Wildlife Photography Manual
As a complete novice to Wildlife Photography I found this book very easy to read & understand. I liked the step by step procedure given.
It has certainly enhanced my desire to get into the "field" & capture that great Photograph.
I liked the way he has put the Tips in boxes for easier reading
A superb inspirational guide - By: Mr. Chris Tarling, 05 Jan 2008
I have been buying a number of wildlife books to learn something of the craft before a safari trip later in the year - this is one of the better books out there. A set of superb & inspirational images is combined with easily digestible text. Thoroughly recommended.
Very good book - By: Mr. Pjk Patching, 29 Jul 2007
This is an extremely good book. Plenty of detail, hints, tips & inspiration. Weston has written this in a way that is easy to understand & remember. His experience in the field of wildlife photography can be seen throughout this book. Unlike many books in this area, he provides information on how to improve general wildlife photography, rather than focusing on either digital or film. Instead when something specific to digital or film crops up, he highlights this in a coloured box.
Conclusion - perfect for any budding wildlife photographer.
Great book - By: Theodore Mattas, 21 Jun 2007
This book offers with detail alll the tips & hints of wildlife photography. The author starts by giving equipment advice (camera, lenses, mounting heads, tripods, beanbags, flashes, transport cases, ect) & then describes step by step the procedure you have to follow in order to take beautiful wildlife photos.
You will learn the difference of taking pictures of standing animals in comparison with a running cheetah or flying birds, he gives valuable information on Depth of field & how to use it correctly,he points on which part of the animals body to focus, he describes panning & motion blur techniques, how to take back light photos, & various other tiny tips which finallly make the difference.
My summary is that you can't go wrong with this book.
Believe me even if you have good knowledge about photography in general you will be still surprised to learn that wildlife photography is a whole different story.

The perfect guide - By: Theodore Mattas, 25 Oct 2005
A few months before my safari trip to kenya (August 2005)I had no idea how could I take the best pictures of alll these wild animals I would see in Africa, with my film slr camera (Olympus OM1) & a Zuiko 85mm-250mm lens.
This book was a tremendous help. The author describes step by step the procedure you must follow to obtain the best result, even if you are an inexperienced (such as myself) wildlife photographer.
He provides valid information for every aspect of this kind of photography (suitable film, lens, camera body, focusing, exposure, depth of field ect). You can also find tips & tricks in order to shoot difficult species (such as birds)and more easy targets such as Elephant, Giraffe, Lion, Leopard ect.
He also provides different techniques for action shots (a running cheetah shot needs a different setup than a standing one)
My summary is that if someone intends to do such a trip & wants to take awesome wildlife pictures, then this book is a must have.
