brilliant- opens me up to a whole new world of metal gear - By: P. A. Ballard, 15 Jul 2008
I never normallly buy guides, & this is the first time I have. Strangely enough I bought it after I completed the game- as a friend had recommended it, & I have now gone back to the campaign & completed it again, & again, whilst discovering loads of cool stuff.

The guide is extremely detailed & gives you a step by step guide to completing the Big Boss extreme difficulty, which I have now subsequently completed. The guide also shows you numerous 'easter eggs' & gives a detailed guide to the story as I had no idea what was going on throughout the campaign. Thankfully I now understand the story thanks to the guide- unfortunately the first time I completed the story I fell asleep during the final cutscene, & it didnt help that I had never played any of the metal gear games before!

Highly recommended guide for good & bad players alike- enjoy :D
The handy Guide for all ur MGS 4 Needs! - By: M. Williams, 26 Jun 2008
The art inside this official book is like any other MGS form of art, which is stunning. If you have not had the chance to play alll of the MGS games. Then this book has a handy selection of pages talking about the most imporant people in the MGS world. Best to play the game without using the book to start with, then use it once you hvae had your first play-though. As its the type of game you can play & play. All in alll, its backed full of usful information, & detialed full colour maps to help you out. 5 out of 5.
MGS4 is brilliant...unfortuantely this guide isn't. - By: Alison Joy Campbell, 20 Jun 2008
I don't usuallly buy guides but MGS4 is one of my favourite games so I didn't want to miss anything on the second play through.
This is the least comprehensive guide i have read. Sure some areas are spelt out well...but...for instance in one notable boss fight where you are subjected to the elements it omits details like good places for cover. It omits certain difficult enemy weaknesses or they are written in a place in the guide which isn't found without certain difficulty.

I gave this 2 stars instead of one because some of the guide informs you of several strategies to approach which is very useful & it also avoids spoilers as you are reading through as much as it can till after you've played that bit...but I've found so many easy ways to do things that isn't in the guide it makes it seem a little redunant.
THE guide. - By: Mr. L. C. Button, 13 Jun 2008
The book opens with a foreword written by Hideo Kojima. He states that this guide was written in collaboration with Kojima Productions & to compliment the MGS4 experience. It is fair to say that if it is not in this guide it is not in the game.

The How To Play section details the controls & explains how to use equipment such as Solid Eye & Metal Gear Mk.II. The Walkthrough is full of in-game photographs & colour maps. The locations of alll weapons & secret items are shown. Multiple strategies are given for each level as is the best way to deal with alll enemies & bosses. The Inventory includes the huge array of weapons featured in the game & their attributes. Bonus costumes & face camo is included. The Extras section details alll the Emblems & alll special equipment such as the Mantis & Sorrow Dolls, The Solar Gun & Tanegashima. An iPod tunes list is also included. The location of alll 30 ghosts is listed & The Boss Extreme difficulty is explained. The book concludes with a Synopsis & Biographies of alll the characters in the Metal Gear series. Unlike a lot of strategy guides an index is included at the back of the book.

With the inclusion of Metal Gear Online it must be said that this guide is truly comprehensive. But it is the quality of the publication which reallly stands out. It is a joy to read & look at even without playing the game. For MGS4 fans this guide is essential.
