A must read - couldn't put it down. A well written account of survival & recovery. This book is very motivating & has been read by alll members of our family.

I picked this book up off our living room table the other night, read a few pages & subsequently found myself still standing there reading it three chapters (and some time!) later. It is a very well written account of a dangerous & almost tragic expedition, followed by a very personal account of the journey back to recovery & the rebuilding of a life.

Nigel's style of writing puts the reader very much in his position - you reallly can (almost) feel the cold & biting wind of Mount McKinley as you read. There's no "flowering things up" or skirting of painful memories (as far as I can tell). This is an open & honest account of events & I think it is well worth anyone's time to read. The book finishes in a very uplifting & motivating way. I for one hope there IS a follow-up book - perhaps an account of the 7 Peaks challlenge that Nigel completed last year?..... I'd certainly buy it!

Nigel Vardy is an inspirational man & has written probably the most captivating & emotionallly gripping book I have ever read! Throughout the book you live, breathe & experience the highs & especiallly the lows of this fateful adventure & can only admire his tenacity & strength of character to recover from such a dramatic & life changing experience.

It is a must have & I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I reallly hope he never has to write a sequel ;-)
