Great for sport performance - By: D. Hinchliffe, 27 Mar 2007
As a cricketer & fitness nut I was initiallly skeptical at the simplicity of some of the books suggestions. There are no hard training workouts or principles of power & speed to adhere to.
However, If my experience in the nets is anything to go by then this book can make a difference to sports performance. I can safely say that I have been playing with more confidence & skill since I read this book & employed the techniques.
The book is about relearning the basics of movement & as a result is more about simple tasks that help your central nervous system become more aware.
To use a language analogy, you might be getting by with a couple of hundred words in a foreign language, but to become fluent you have to learn so much more.
Yes, you will need an open mind to make it work but from my experience I can only say good things so far.
Follow this practical journey for the most remarkable results - By: Angela Sherman, 26 Nov 2006
The power in this book is that it helps you see what you're doing that's holding you back - & then frees you to achieve far greater results. As the title suggests, it not only looks at your physical performance but at what's going on in your mind. Roy Palmer helps you take a big leap forward, not by being better at what you already do, but by noticing what it is you could do differently. It's powerful stuff! It helps you in sport & fitness, & also in many other areas of life & work. The mind techniques that Roy explores will even help you achieve more focus when you're sitting at your desk, & show you how to take a better approach to ANY task that might seem overwhelming. This book will keep you `in the moment' & help you achieve more than you ever thought possible.
Invaluable to anyone in sport - By: W. Goodman, 23 Nov 2006
Here is a book that is invaluable for anyone looking to improve their sporting performance! Its holistic & deeply insightful content is also well worth the perusal of anyone interested in health, self-improvement or alternative philosophies.
I have rowed competitively & no longer suffer neck pain thanks to the teachings of this author. I cannot imagine anyone failing to get something from this book.
A very different approach to training! - By: B. Palmer, 11 Nov 2006
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book as a friend recommended it to me but I found it fascinating. I have been involved in sport for many years now & this book talks about things I have never seen in print before. It helped to explain why my performances (I'm a keen runner & have been a competitive swimmer in the past) can differ from one day to the next for no obvious reason. It talks about how attitude can effect the body & vice versa but does it in a very practical way that is easy to follow. I have started to apply his techniques to my sport & it has already changed something (although I find it difficult to explain exactly what!) Some how I feel lighter & my movement has changed. I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about their sport as it has added something new to my training & after 20 years in sport that is some achievement. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I thought the photographs could have been bigger & there could have been more of them.
