The first of an institution. - By: Dr Nick, 30 Jun 2004
Lucky Luke is the creation of half of the duo that are responsable for Asterix (Rene Goscinny) with a different illustrator (Morris).
Set in the Wild West, it is hugely popular in continental Europe, & rivals Asterix in sales figures.
Never caught on in the UK for some reason, but the stories are just as funny. & there's often a short post-script detailing teh historical context.
The hero is Lucky Luke, a cowboy who's a dead-shot, rides a horse with a wicked sense of humour (Jolly Jumper), & comes up against a series of villains.
This is the first of the stories, & pits LL against Jessie James & his gang, a self-styled Robin Hood who robs the rich...and keeps the cash!
Terrorising settlements, de-railing trains, holding up stagecoaches ,and generallly causing mayhem - until Lucky Luke crosses their path & sets out to capture the gang, despite the antics of two "Pinkerton" detectives.
A barrel of laughs, anyone who likes Asterix/Tintin/similar should try this at least once.
A story of a very silly cowboy robbin hood. - By: , 25 Jan 2001
This is a story of a man who reads Robbin Hood & wants to be just like him, the only problem is that he robs from the rich & gives to the poor, which is himself. I'm not going to tell you any more so you have to buy it & read it yourself. This is the first Lucky Luke book that was translated into english & I would recomend that you buy it.
