Great book - By: S. E. Godfrey, 18 Apr 2008
I found this book excellent.

There are a large variety of recipes - salads, curries - & yes also waffles & pancakes . What's reallly nice is that the author conveys the idea that vegan cooking can also be pleasurable & decadent rather than just ordinary or earnest. This book is great to compliment the hard core raw & vegan books on the shelf. It also appeals to veggies & meat eaters. I also loved the fact that there were no pictures too...

As a trainee psychotherapist I could find the comments from the cat slightly irratating, ibid.,the punk points & the politics of hairy legged women, but it is also a strength of the book which is also a sort of autobiography told through food.

Best vegan cookbook I own - By: J. SMITH, 19 Feb 2008
I got this book (US version) a year & a half ago as a new vegan & it's never let me down. There are recipes in it to impress vegans & meat-eaters alike & it's incredibly refreshing to own a vegan cookbook that packs the punches & isn't alll about nut loaves & pasta salad. The mango ginger tofu is incredible, I'll make a batch to last me through the week & never get sick of it & the Big, Gigantoid Crunchy Peanut-Butter Oatmeal cookies are the most delicious cookies I've ever made - I bake them as gifts for people & everyone says how amazing they are!
The bottom line is that this book has a huge amount of very creative dishes, some are a little labour intense but most you can make for week day meals. I've not once regretted buying it & mine is now looking a little dog-eared & food splattered as a result.
Fantastic and Unique! - By: J. Williams, 26 Jan 2008
Just a note: I have the American version of this cookbook.

I have had this cookbook for about 6 months & it is incredible! The recipes are easy to follow & the author gives substitutions for hard to find ingredients. The majority of the recipes don't take long to make & the dessert section is fantastic. The Fauxstess Cupcakes are especiallly delicious. The recipes are reallly unique & lots of fun to make. The author reallly emphasizes fresh ingredients & steers clear of using fancy gadgets & cookware. Overalll, it's reallly enjoyable & accessible, even for people who are new to being vegan or who are not particularly skilled in the kitchen. I highly recommend it.
Buy this for the raspberry blackout cake on its own! - By: Adrienne Storme, 20 Dec 2007
The title of my review says it alll - the first thing I made from it was the Raspberry Blackout Cake with a Ganache-y Icing & it's quite literallly the best cake I or my boyfriend have ever tasted. Sponge so smooth & moist it's unbelievable, & the ganache icing is a dream. And it only took one trip to my local supermarket to buy the ingredients - none of the searching high & low for obscure American products that vegan cookbooks often require.

Buy this book & make this cake for every birthday you have coming up. You will make people very happy!

EDIT: I've since tried many more recipes from this book & they're alll amazing. Seriously. BUY THIS BOOK!
