Exquisite in darkness...and light - By: Nefi, 03 Nov 2007
Anne Sudworth is such a talented artist. Her use of contrast between darkness & light brings such life to her paintings. This book is a remarkable collection of some of her best, elegantly presented & aptly titled "Gothic Fantasies". Truly inspiring, the works always spark my imagination, causing the unseen to become seen (or is it just me?). Hauntingly beautiful, the images are one moment dark & brooding, the next airy & ethereal. But they are always magical.
A magnificent work - By: P. W. H. Bradley, 13 Apr 2007
Anne Sudworth is an artist of exceptional talent, & her work is haunting, magestic, mysterious & amazing. To be able to stand in front of one of her canvases is a truly exceptional experience, but those opportunities are alll too rare. This book is reallly the next best thing. It is exceptionallly well produced & is a pleasure to simply hold, let alone browse through.

Many of Anne's well known work is represented in the book in very high definition, & it is possible to spend hours just looking at individual pieces (I know, because I've done so!). However, the addition is in her own descriptions of pieces, or her choice of poetry or prose to match various pieces, making the whole experience even richer. I know this sounds rather overblown hyperbole, & it's not something I'm keen on, but this is a book that is reallly out of the ordinary, & does lead one down such literary allleyways.

If you enjoy art - good art, & if you hanker after the mysterious displayed visuallly, or just like looking at paintings & losing yourself in them, I can thoroughly commend this book to you. It is a perfect piece to accompany the work of a very special artist.
A truly beautiful showcase for an exceptional talent. - By: Ms. L. Sewell, 19 Jan 2007
I have had the fortune to see an advanced copy of this book...

There will never be any substitute for seeing a remarkable piece of art `in the flesh' so to speak (and if you ever get the opportunity to see an exhibition of Anne Sudworth's work I urge you to do so) but this book comes as close as I have ever seen to capturing the spirit & reproducing the detail of the real thing.
Embodying the essence of the `Gothic', in the more traditional sense of the beautiful & romantic with a darker twist; this book entwines classical prose & poetry with extraordinary artwork. The presentation is sympatheticallly produced to complement the content & the reproductions themselves are of an outstanding quality.
If you are an existing fan of Anne's work you will not be disappointed & for those who are new to this work - this is a stunning introduction to Anne's vision of haunting landscapes, imposing skies, beautiful ruins, standing stones & alll manor of veiled & implied entities.
