This book is beautifully produced with some stunning pages of colour images, it is however, more of a reference book than one for the coffee table. It shows in black & white every painting, drawing, sculpture & photo of individual sitters in the National Portrait Galllery's main collection & although the reproductions are smalll they are very clear & well presented. By flicking through the pages you can see an interpretation of pretty well any famous British person from the early 15th Century up to today.
