Great Addition to Any Kitchen - By: Agiliani, 17 May 2007
When you receive the book it does not look very exciting. There are no pictures & it's printed on old yellowing paper. Don't let this put you off though; the recipes are reallly great- yummy, authentic & informative.

The great thing about this book is that it's unpretentious & understated but hides fantastic recipes. The usual suspects are there (pilau rice, chicken tikka masala etc) but there are many more unusual recipes that you will not find in most Indian cookery books on the market especiallly in the starters & vegetarian chapters.

In the search for good Indian recipes I have bought 3 other books & even though the pictures are great, the price is much higher & the qualities of recipes don't compare to this humble book.

My only recommendation would be to include a contents page so you can find what you need quickly & to include some pictures especiallly of unusual ingredients.

If you want to cook great Indian food, buy this book.

Curry Love - By: Fran Hanley, 03 Feb 2006
For somebody like me who has only recently started eating curries, this has most definitely changed my eating habits, the food is delicious & well worth the time & effort.
The best cookery book i've ever used - By: Julian M Ridge, 15 Dec 2004
I am a male, with limited kitchen skills, but with the help of this book i have created curries as good, no, even better, than any curry i have bought from my local curry houses. It is fantasticallly easy to follow, clear instructions, & the results have been nothing short of brilliant. Well recommended, each member of my family will be receiving a copy in their christmas stockings.
Incredible - By: , 16 Jul 2004
This book actuallly contains real & authentic recipes - not the water-down versions you find in many curry houses these days. With simple, but effective recipes, i have consistently been able to produce spectacular meals.
A must have - they should publish a glossy version with pictures though!
The best indian recipe book I have ever seen. - By: , 11 Feb 2003
An old fashioned cookbook this one. No glossy photos, very few pictures, but this is the best indian recipe book I have ever seen.

The focus is on indian home cooking - *real* cooking. Not takeaway food, but the sort of thing you can make every day.

The recipes are well laid out, with clear instructions, & there are dozens of them.

Recipes include snacks, starters, breads, side dishes, meat, poultry & vegetarian dishes, sweet deserts & drinks (13 chapters in alll). All of them seem pretty sensible.

I made my (indian) girlfriend potato sak last night, following a recipe in this book, & she told me it tasted just like her mums. What hgher reccomendation can there be?
