old faithful- By: , 28 Dec 2005 An excellent cookbook. I love cooking & have quite a collection of cook books. This one is a personal favourite (alongside Constance Spry!). The food is exquisite. The instructions are clear & concise with illustrations at each stage. In addition each recipe includes information about making the dish in advance, storage, whether (and at which stage) it can be frozen & whether it can be microwaved. No quick reference for preparation & cooking time so you'd have to read the text to work that out, but many of the recipes are quick & easy. No mention of calorie counts either but frankly when food tastes like this, who cares? This is the book I dig out for dinner parties when I want to impress friends. So far, everyone who has eaten a dish made from it has loved it, no exceptions.
