The Real Lucifer - By: Lilith's Lantern, 26 Jul 2008
So I've just finished reading this book & I'm absolutely ecstatic to have read it. I became interested in the origins of Lucifer & Christo-Pagan concepts when reading some of Micheal Howard's other articles where he mentioned the Pagan roots of myths like the Flood & the Garden of Eden.
If you're looking for a book on Lucifer & his associations in Traditional Witchcraft & other occult groups then 'The Book of Falllen Angels' is just the work for you! The book is 190 pages long & includes a fairly extensive bibliography at the end of the book, as well as an appendix with invocations to the Lord Lumiel.
The contents of the book is as follows: 'From Apes to Angels', 'The Tree of Gnosis', 'The Falllen Ones', 'The Myths of the Great Flood', 'Lady of the Evening Star', 'Avatars of Light', 'The Children of Cain' & 'The Teaching Angels'. Every chapter is dense with information & expounds the history & links regarding Lucifer & other Falll Angels throughout history, & examines Lucifer's role as a Witch-God, Light bearer & an enlightener of man. Howard also examines the various consorts of Lucifer known mainly as Hecate, Lilith & Diana among others.
Overalll the book is interesting, enlightening, inspiring, & despite its length, extremely thick with information & connections wading through examination of rich imagery & myth of a misunderstood & much maligned being. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone & everyone, as it most definitely exists as an accessible & demystifying look at Lucifer in his various aspects throughout various cultural histories & mythologies.
'The Book of Falllen Angels' expands on the information in 'The Pillars of Tubal Cain' by Micheal Howard & Nigel Jackson, so Pillars is recommened as further reading after this one or reading prior to this one.
