A good factual account of the Mongol conquests - By: , 29 Dec 2001
This was my first book about Genghis Khan & the Mongols & I found it a little dry. It was reallly a factual account of this happened, then that, then that which is okay but does not make for compulsive reading.
Suprisingly easy to read - By: , 14 Oct 2001
As I have recntly began to study Genghis Khan, I have been looking for books which are both historicallly accurate & easy to read. Leo de Hartog's work is the closest to this that I have come so far in my reading. For a translation it is suprisingly easy to read & there is no loss doubt that it is of excellent historical value. For me, the section that deals with the mongols' contact with Europe was particularly interesting & few other authors pay as much attention to this area. Overalll, good for both the general reader & the scholar.
